This website was created to celebrate the vibrant life of Christiellen Almeida, who has been a blessing to all of us. In preparation for the memorial service, this is a place to share our memories about her.

Given that there will not be enough time for all of us to speak during the program, we are encouraged to share thoughts, stories or comments through this platform instead. The family will receive a book prepared with all these posts as well as cards and letters collected during the service.

From Revelation 14:13, we believe that Christiellen is now resting from her labors, but her works follow. As we all post in this website, let us keep this Scripture in mind, sharing how her legacy serves as inspiration to live lives that will honor our Lord Jesus Christ.

“We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not figures on a dial. We should count time in heart throbs. He most lives who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best.” These words by Philip James Bailey capture beautifully the Christiellen we had the joy of knowing. Her sojourn among us was so brief; her days so fleeting. She was truly a gift to us— a gift that keeps on giving. Like a tiny pebble, dropped in a quiet pond, she created ripples that continue to spread in ever-widening circles. Only eternity will reveal the full measure of her influence. I am convinced that many in that day will arise and call her blessed.

To her family we say: Thank you for sharing you precious wife and mother with us. We were blessed beyond measure.

I will always remember Cristiellen for her serious joy which sounds like an oxymoron but, let me just say, I think she was very serious about being joyful. With the kids, she was “one with them”, and she could be just as serious and committed walking away from a group, as she was joyous walking towards the group. She was deeply joyful without being frivolous. She was “deep”... Cristiellen was deeply committed to God, her family, & her church family which, btw, included everyone she met! I don’t know why God allowed her to rest so soon when the world needs more people just like her. But I am so grateful to have “rubbed shoulders” with this “daughter of God” and, I take comfort in these words from Scripture:

“The righteous perishes, and no man takes it to heart; merciful men are taken away, while no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil. He shall enter into peace; They shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.” Isaiah 57:1, 2.

Her Life

Life Sketch

"Christie", Wife to Joel Almeida and mother to Stephany and Jonathan.

Christie was born to Valdecir and Ivone on June 3, 1974, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She grew up there with her two siblings, Andreand Daiany. Since an early age Christiellen attended Christian schools and was always an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She moved from Brazil to Miami, Florida, in 1995, and since that time embraced this country as her own.

Christiellen was passionate about children's education, music, and health ministry. She obtained a degree in Physical Education, and served in multiple areas, even working as a volunteer firefighter while living in Florida.

In 2006, she married Joel Almeida, and after three years theirfirst baby, Stephany, was born. The family moved to Michigan in 2010 where Joel pursued his Master of Divinity degree.

In 2013 the young family received their first call into the ministry, and they moved to Virginia where Joel worked as a youth pastor.

In 2015, they welcomed their second child, Jonathan. Christie devoted her life to her family as she remained faithfully committed to developing children’s ministries in all the different churches they attended over the years.

In 2019, Triadelphia had the privilege of receiving this wonderful family, and Christiellen became the Triadelphia Sparks Pathfinder Club director. She guided the Pathfinders through a journey of faith, pouring her loving and fun personality into the club, as she would do in all her endeavors.

In November of 2021, the Almeida family moved to Twentynine Palms, California, following Joel, who became a Navy Chaplain. Christie was a happy Navy wife, proud of her husband’s service and ready to take on this new adventure.

On January 20, 2022, the family was involved in a car accident that took Christie’s life. She left a great example of hope and optimism. As a Christian, her favorite Bible passage was Revelation 21:4, which reflects her most treasured dream, a time when all sorrows and pain will be over: "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Her memory will be in our hearts until the Lord comes from Heaven and we can see her again. We can’t wait for that glorious day!

“… (She) may rest from (her) labors, for (her) works follow (her)” Rev 14:13

Christiellen had this brilliant idea for a fundraiser at the Fall Festival. We would compete to see who got more money, Pathfinders or Adventurers. Whoever won would throw a cream pie at the loser’s face. As the Adventurers are a bigger club I thought I would win. I was really surprised when Christiellen and the Pathfinders won. So I prepared for the pie in my face. I was not expecting her to really slam the pie on my face and rub it all around and push it up on my head. My whole head was covered in whipped cream!

This moment really sums up her leadership style and our friendship.

Whenever she would plan for Pathfinder events she would think about making it as much fun as possible for the kids. I’m usually taking the more easier, faster route to get the job done. But Christiellen was always thinking bigger, better. She had such a fun, playful side and would often suggest activities based on the pure fun of it.

Then she would commit fully and completely. Whatever was going on in her life, no matter how busy she was, she would always deliver %150. She always was present, she always showed up. She always answered, she always listened and she always cared.

She always encouraged me and more importantly she made an effort to find out what I really wanted to do - what my end goal was. She would push me to be honest with her and not accommodating. She made me find my leadership voice, and make a decision and be proud of it and stick to it. That’s the biggest lesson she taught me - be strong and go forward in the Lord.

Cristiellen and VBS

Last year Cristiellen was my professor Fossilrock.   She came dressed in a lab coat and generally looked very much like a professor and the kids loved her section of VBS.   She made a great Professor Fossilrock,

Cristiellen and my last memories of her.

July 21, 2022
It was a postluck Sabbath and Cristiellen was wearing a white skinny white skirt that she had gotten something on so I commented and told her what might take it out.  The. We stayed there talking, close to the dessert table.   On that table there was a particular cake that she loved the icing on it.   So as we talked she proceeded to cut small pieces of the cake and like the icing off and then put the cake down and cut another small piece and lick the icing off of it she probably did this with several pieces as we were talking all the while telling me that she would start her diet later.  This is the last time I interacted with her and it is such a fun memory.   Sorry I do not have a picture.   Wordpictures are all I can provide.
