It was a big shock and sad day when I heard of the passing of my best friend, adopted sister and a loving person of over 25 years.
She was everything one would want in a friend.
I am still having a hard time believing that God had called her home, where there is no more suffering and peace is all around her.
We always went places together and we enjoyed each other’s company.
We both could share our problems with each other.
God has taken you home Christine, but you will never be forgotten, my bestest friend
Thoughts and prayers go to the family

Sorry to hear of your moms passing. I used to babysit you girls when I was a teenager. Your mom was a beautiful person. Years have got away from us but see her obituary brought many memories back to me. Take comfort in the great memories you have of a beautiful mom.

THANK YOU, MOM,

Thank you for all of the support, understanding and unconditional love you have given me, for 57 years. I am so thankful that God made you my mom.  I am forever grateful for all that you are and who you have taught me to be. Thank you, mom, for everything and I hope someday that I am at least half the person you are. You were like no other, mom, for giving me life, nurturing me, and always being the first one I call for advice and just to say hello. There are not enough words to even describe how important you were in my life, Mom, and you continue to influence how I live mine. I am forever grateful. You were an amazing, strong, selfless, and loving mom. It is because of you, mom, that I am stronger.  As I’ve grown older, I realize all you gave up for me and I thank you. I just wish that God had given me time to care for you! Thank you, mom, for giving my wings so I can only soar higher because of you. The love between a mother and her child last forever. Now that I’m older, mom, thank you for never leaving me in a shopping cart and running away even though I am sure it tempting it was many times. How do I sum up my gratitude for you, Mom, in just a few words? To the best mother in the world, Christine Vivian Giles-, my angel, THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU AND I MISS YOU. If Heaven only had a phone…..

From Uncle Bruce and Aunt Judy
To Cathy, Tammy & Families,
We were so sad to hear about Christine’s passing. She was such a kind, sweet lady.

Because of the distance of course we hadn’t had much chance to spend a lot of time with her but the times that we did we had great memories of her.
Bruce has a funny memory...he remembers when he was about 10 or eleven years old and your Mom and Dad lived in Morley Clarke’s old house in Springdale. Bob wanted him to help Christine out by chopping splits (wood) to light the fire in the morning because he (Bob) was away working. He gave Bruce some money for this before he went away and he was going to give him the rest when he got back.

Bruce would forget to do it half the time. Christine would do it herself. She never reminded him and never ever told Bob. When your father came home he paid Bruce and your mother let him without saying a word. That speaks volumes of her kindness.

We both also remember our one trip up to Tumbler Ridge to see them. We were treated like royalty! We remember how she took us to her workplace and how proud she was to show us where she worked. And the love and pride she took in showing us pictures of her children and her grandchildren.

She certainly will be missed in your family and she will be missed in the Giles family as well.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you today.

Love
Uncle Bruce and Aunt Judy

From Aunt Elsie
First, I would like to say how deeply sorry we were to hear of Christine’s passing. Aunt Linda and Uncle Don join with me in offering their love and sympathy as well. We were indeed honoured as Bob’s siblings to call her our sister in law. She was funny, loving, kind and hardworking.

In the bible in Prov. 31 we read these words, "Who can find a virtuous woman? Her price is above rubies” I believe that Christine possessed many of the characteristics mentioned in this passage of scripture. She loved God and lived to please Him. And that is the most important thing any one of us could ever say about her and the one thing that means the most is that she was a Christian who dearly loved God...

I believe the #1 ingredient in the well-being of a child is Love, and Christine gave her children and her grandchildren plenty of love. She demonstrated love and kindness to all her family and created an atmosphere of warmth to all who came into her home.

When Dwight and I went up to Tumbler for Perry’s funeral, despite her sorrowing condition she made sure that we were comfortable and was well taken care of. She put our needs above her own.

In 2012 when Ken and I visited Tumbler before Bob’s passing, once again she was the perfect hostess. On the day of our departure, we wanted to leave early in the morning, so we said our goodbyes at night so in the morning we could sneak out early without disturbing them.

We awoke at 3:30 am and decided to get up and get going since we had a long drive ahead of us. We quietly came out of our room and found them in the kitchen where Christine was setting the table to fix us breakfast before we hit the road. That was the Christine we all knew and loved. A woman always wanting to serve others.

I know that all of us would have liked to have more time with her, More laughs together, share more stories, enjoy more family meals. But it was not to be for as the scripture says, 'there is a time for everything' and last Wednesday morning the time came for Christine to change her place of residence from earth to heaven and we were helpless to prevent it.

HOWEVER. The good news is that even in the midst of death. Jesus gives us hope for in JOHN 11 VERSE 25 He says, 'I am the resurrection and the life all who believe in me though he dies will live again.'

Wow, DID you hear that? What a marvellous promise. What magnificent hope we can all have for the future. The hope of life after death.
So today as you mourn your mom and grandmother, I hope you will find comfort in knowing that she is free of pain, worry and anxiety now, and is resting at peace in her heavenly home that God has prepared for her because of her faithfulness to Him…

During those difficult days as you try and adapt your life without Christine being in it, I would like to encourage you to lean on each other for support, and to lean on God for strength... May God’s presence be with you, His love enfolds you, His light surrounds you and His peace cover you. And may your precious memories of her, ease your pain and keep her alive in your hearts in the days that lie ahead.

I close with this poem:

Her journey's just begun
Don't think of her as gone away
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears,
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today,
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.

From Shelia Simms & Family
Christine was more than a cousin to me, she was one of my best friends. We talked about everything, our children, grandchildren, recipes, the list goes on.

Christine showed me how to make pizza. We enjoyed many after that.
Before I started work at the post office, we used to walk there after dinners to pick up the mail and then return to one of our houses for a cup of tea. We were both disappointed when I took the job there; our walks were over. Shortly after that Christine moved to Tumbler Ridge.

Although Christine moved away many years ago, we always kept in touch. She proudly told me about her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. he was one proud grandma. Her family was her pride and joy.

My condolences to Christine's family and friends as we say so long to her. We will meet again. God bless!
