About My Dad

My Dad was born on October 12, 1946 in El Llano, New Mexico. His parents were Antonio Seferino Bustos and Margarita Manuelita Naranjo-Bustos. He was number four of seven children. They lived in a farming community, which had 1 small church and a two room school. My father and his family moved to Oakland, CA in 1953 my Dad was 7 years old. In 1956 at the age of 10 my Dad and his family moved to Richmond, CA which is where they settled. My Dad and his family attended St. Marks Catholic Church in Richmond. My Dad Graduated from Harry Ells High School. Dad went on to join the Navy in 1965 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed on the Aircraft Carrier The Coral Sea and was Honorably Discharged in January of 1969. Dad attended Contra Costa College in order to further his education. In August  of 1969 he married his first wife  Rene Flores and together they had two children. Their daughter Bernadette was born in June of 1970 and their son Christopher was born in June of 1972. Chris and Rene Divorced in 1978. Not long after Dad was discharged from the Navy he began a long career with then MaBell which eventually became known as AT&T, he retired from AT&T in 2010. In September of 1991 Dad married his wife of 29 years Ellie Bustos. In 2014 Dad and Ellie decided to pull up their roots here in California and moved to Gilbert, Arizona. The two lived very happily in Arizona loving and serving The Lord. In December of 2020 Dad contracted Covid-19 and on December 30th hepassed at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Gilbert, AZ from complications of Covid Pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Ellie Bustos, daughter Bernadette Lopez, Son Christopher Bustos, Stepson Bryan Durrett, Stepson Terry Durrett, grandchildren Angelica Lopez, Gabriel Lopez, Anna Bustos, Jessica Durrett, Amy Durrett, Tanner Durrett, Gabriel Durrett, Peyton Durrett, Owen Durrett, great grandson Amani Blake, as well as Brother Tony Bustos, Sister Adela Hawkins, Sister Rachel Contreras, Brother Herman Bustos, and several Nieces and Nephews. Dad now resides in The House of Lord. Internment at The Veterans National Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
