Greased Pig Contest

June 2, 2016

Chris was very young and in his Sunday Day Class they had a festival on a Sunday afternoon. Chris was 5 yrs old the usual games like dunking for apples , ring toss and pin the tail on the donkey... then came the Greased pig contest for kids his age---well he was first to sign up.. Three or four boys went before him and he kept telling me that I can win this--it looks easy as that pig going crazy running in circles.. Chris was up next I could barely watch-I knew he would be so disappointed if he didn't win that red ribbon.. He wrestled that pig with his greasy hands and he finally put that pig in the box, everyone was cheering for him and the biggest grin on his face that couldn't of gotten any larger--he got that red ribbon that day and I have pictures to post real soon so you can smile like I'm doing right now just remembering that beautiful day with my son...

One Sad Night

November 12, 2014

When Chris was 15yrs old, he worked part time after school at Cracker Barrel in Cookeville, Tn. My husband wanted to go night fishing that Friday night, so we went to Center Hill Lake and fished until around 1am. Chris was working and had promised to come home after work..... His best friend was 16yrs old and just got a new truck. They decided they would go for a ride and ended up 30miles from home, his friend was driving very fast around a very curvy road, Chris asked him to slow down but he didn't. He lost control of the truck in a curve and struck a tree and turned the truck over. When we got home I knew something was wrong, there were 15 messages on our answering machine. We were so scared listening to the messages, the calls were from the police dept. in another county asking us to please come an pick Chris up, we were terrified. We broke the speed limit going to get him. Then we got there he had cuts and bruises over his body, and we found out he was going to be ok, but his friend had lost his life that night. I did'nt sleep for 3 days, just watching him I didn't want him out of my sight....I thank God for saving Chris that night, but was so sad for his friend and his family.

Love of a boy with beautiful blue eyes.

October 13, 2014

I came from a very large family- 9 children, so, as, you can imagine everything I had were hand me downs from my older sisters. I remember telling my mother when I was 16yrs old that when I got married I was having one child and I would give him/her what ever they wanted. So, I had one very special son that had lots of black hair  and beautiful blue eyes and I did give him everything that he needed and wanted. He had my heart and soul from the first sight of him. He was a very determined child, he starting walking at the age of 7 months, nothing could hold him back!!!  He could always make me smile. He had to have his tonsils removed at the age of 6yrs of age, I was so nervous and scared for him that when he went to the recovery room and he was crying and some blood on his mouth, guess what happened? I fainted!!!!!! I could never stand the sight of him in pain or in distress.  Yes, he was my heart and soul..... always will be!!!

Jo, Chris woud call her Ada potato and that would really set her off. He loved his Grandma very much and I have to say she felt the same way about him. She would keep him for me when I worked at Oakwood 2nd shift and Mike would pick him up by 5pm.. He never wanted to leave her.
