Cruisin'...

July 31, 2013

Last year, Chris, Tracey and I went to get pedicures. Chris drove us in his PT Cruiser, and anyone who’s ever ridden in Chris’ PT Cruiser remembers the aroma of his cologne – which is embedded in the leather and will probably never completely fade… And being a good Auntie, I popped one of my CDs into the player and Spente le Stelle (Yomanda Remix), which is Italian opera music set to techno music, began to play. Loudly!  It was AWESOME! Chris and I were getting into it, bopping our heads to the music, reveling in the crescendos, shaking our shoulders, when he looked at me grinning and said, “Auntie Becca, look at my Mom…” And I did – there was Tracey in the back seat, her face clearly saying “what the …?”, head bopping unconvincing on all the down-notes, but giving it a good try.  Chris and I roared with laughter, thoroughly enjoying the moment.  If you’d like to hear it, Google “Emma Shapplin - Spente Le Stelle Yomanda Remix” and you’ll find it on YouTube.  Turn it up, and bop your head to the music!

A driving lesson

April 12, 2013

When Chris recevied his learner's driving permit, he was looking for someone with a car who would allow him to drive. I immediately said 'yes'. So off we went in my Camry. I was perfectly comfortable with him driving, and he was a good driver. I let him take me wherever he wanted to go, so we went exploring the countryside, making little discoveries and sharing the time for just the two of us. I was so proud of him and so happy that I was the first one to drive with him.
