Cindy was born August 14, 1959 to Don and Priscilla Leet in Dayton, Ohio. Raised in their nurturing environment she developed into a cheerful, compassionate individual with outstanding character.

Educated in the Kettering School system, she graduated in 1977 from Fairmont West High School. She was passionate in her interest of arts, tennis, gardening, music, reading, and cooking. She always saw the best in people and situations, and her love and devotion to her family and friends was undaunted.

Some of her favorite things were attending music festivals, hosting family and friend gatherings, or just socializing with friends and watching football.

She is survived by her sister, Romy Leet and nephew Brandon Leet from Dayton; Aunt Diana and Uncle Doug Snell from Alabama; Aunt April Carroll from Dayton, and many cousins and friendds. A gentle, joyful soul, the light of her presence will forever shine in the hearts of the loved ones she's touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be determined.

I'll never forget meeting Cindy Leet 1st day of eighth grade at Barnes Jr. High.
She was sitting next to me in math class and turned to introduce herself in that warm friendly manner of hers which was always a signature of her personality. Those big round baby blue eyes and wide bright smile under her crown of golden blond hair.....I was smitten!
From that moment on we were fast friends. We shared many common interests in music, movies, art, books, plants, food, people. We had instant reporie with each other. Over the the years we were able to maintain our bond of friendship & always basked in the glory of our companionship.
We are all blessed if we have a few true close friends in this life ....
It's been my privilege to count Cindy as one of mine.

One of her greatest joys was being surrounded by her friends and family while catering to their needs. She was one of those people who drew great satisfaction by pleasing others.
She was always very up-beat making the best of difficult situations and maintained a sunny disposition in spite circumstances.

She loved to have fun !!!
With so many years of memories it's difficult to pick any favorites....... but I can remember one particular forth of July she was planning a family cook-out and wanted some of "Old Hickory's" salad dressing for the meal. So the night before we went there for dinner. Upon finishing our meal she asked the waitress to bring the dressing & add it to our check. When I met her out in the car after settling the bill, she revealed to me that she also got some of their Bar-B-Q sauce........Two large bottles she had stuffed into her purse right in front of me while and I never noticed...we laughed all the way home!

We had so many wonderful laughs and tears together ...........
Anytime Cindy comes to mind I will think of the words to the Gordon Lightfoot song " Rainy Day People"

"Rainy day people don't hide Love inside, they just pass it on"

                                           Thanks Cindy

Cindy was the first person that said hello to me with her beautiful smile. I was the new kid on the block at Barnes. We became good friends and were roommates twice. She will truly be missed. GOD bless her family and friends on the loss of one of the sweetest souls I had the chance to meet in my lifetime.

Cindy Ann Leet; named after the James Dean character in her Father's favorite film; a film that I enjoyed with them many times since we first met in 1968 when the Leets made their home across the street from the Butcher Block, my parent's shop and my place of work and second home for many years. We all became fast friends and I will always be grateful that I was trusted to care for Cindy and her younger sister Romy (named for Romy Schneider) when they were children, when Don and Priscilla wanted an evening out.  I saw the sisters grow into strong, independent women. I was aware of the good times and the rough times. The rough times were few and the good times are the memories I will cherish. Like Cal, Cindy was tough, hard working, knew her own mind and did not tolerate b___s___. She knew how to enjoy life, and was always there for friends in need. Many I loved have gone on before her. My prayer is that she is with them singing, dancing, watching movies and playing many, many rounds of euchre with cool, refreshing beverages always near at hand. Love always, Greg & Patty

I have so many wonderful memories of Cindy, mostly of family times like the camping trips to Pike Lake we all shared when the kids were growing up (Cindy and Romy and my kids and various friends’ kids, too). Singing around the campfire, where Cindy always requested that Greg play “Séance” and that her daddy sing Minnie the Mermaid, and that our dear friend Jon sing “Mule Skinner Blues.” Other great family times, like celebrating our move to the house across the street, all those raucously memorable New Year’s Eve parties, and all those summer back yard parties with Jimmy Buffet blaring and everybody dancing, with Cindy always at the center, twirling and smiling. I will always remember Cindy for her love of family and her loyalty to friends over the years. She was truly one of a kind.

Cindy Leet had a great laugh and smile, she put her whole heart in it. I met Cindy in 1977 at her parents (Don & Priscilla) New Year’s Eve party. I came because LuAnn a friend of Cindy’s had invited me. I met Romy, Trinity, Jon & Joy, Deb & Greg, Patty & Greg, Ronnie, Ed &Marge Bill Haney and John Harvey. These friends changed my life. Cindy loved books, music, movies, parties, friends, and family. The Leets made me feel I was part of their family, fed me, shared their home, friends and showed me how to get more out of life. They introduced me to film festivals and classic film became my vocation.
I was telling my sweet wife Jenny about one precious memory I have of Cindy playing Barbra Streisand’s Broadway album (1985), how when she played “Somewhere” from West Side Story – Cindy stood in the middle of the room facing up, eyes closed, arms outstretched… she was just soaking it in… as if it could not get any better.
Another story is of when we went to see Hall & Oats in concert in Cincinnati and danced the entire concert! I don’t know how many movies we watched in the Leet basement but it was many, and not enough. How many meals and drinks we shared, many, but not enough. How many stories Cindy told or asks others to share, many and not enough.
I feel as if I have lost one sister, thank God Romy is still here and so sweet and loving. Our memories of her family will provide laughter, smiles and warm thoughts for years to come.

The party

June 17, 2022

I remember the big party at Bear Creek Lodge for Cindy's 21st birthday. Every one of Cindy's friends were there. Im pretty sure we had a big punch bowl full of "Hairy Buffalo". 151 rum and hawaiian punch. Don, Cindy's dad was playing drums, for a buddys band, everyone was having a great time. Man, that was a great party.  Another time, me, Dave Bryan, Cindy, Jim Reilly, and a couple other people,  were having a cook out at this now extinct park off McKwen rd. in Centerville. We were cookin bar-b-q chicken on the grill. And drinking beer. Well, it got dark, and as we were following Jim Reilly on a paved path to exit the park, following Jim, somehow we managed to end up on someone's front yard, with both cars stuck in the muddy grass. The cops came, the owner was cussin, we thought we were goin to jail. But the owner told the cops he wouldn't press charges, if we came back the next weekend and fixed his yard. We did. Haha. Cindy also loved to go to Clifton Gorge and John Bryan State Park, especially the pine forest at John Bryan, where there was a spring with a spicket sticking out of the hillside, where you could get fresh clean spring water. That is a beautiful place. Then we would all go to HaHa Pizza afterwards, because everybody had the munchies. Ha. Cindy, i love you and miss you, but you are now in Jesus's care. Your friend forever, Chris.
