Doc was born Nov. 11, 1929 at Argyle, MO to August & Hilda Eichholz Wieberg. He attended Wiles country school, in Maries country, through the 8th grade. He had 3 sisters and 4 brothers, Doc being the 5th.
While he was in grade school, to help the family income, he worked for their neighbor John & Olive Schulte who treated him like a son. He spent many "overnights" at their house. John Schulte owned about 600 acres of timberland and also had a dairy operation which required milking cows by hand. Their oldest son, nicknamed "Buck", who was Doc's age, became best of friends. "Buck ", died at the age of 64. "Buck's" younger brother, "Wabash" and Doc continued a life long friendship.
At age 15, Doc went by train to Nebraska to work for his uncle Louie Eichholz who was a cattle feeder for a local banker. Later he worked for cattle feeders Clem Knobbe and also Eddie Benes.
He was an enlisted Marine in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, having served in the Combat Zone for 12 months. He was stationed for Boot Camp at San Diego, then went on to Camp Pendleton, Korea, and El Toro. His rank was Sgt., Unit = Air Wing, 1st Marine Division. His job was an engineer. He received the Korean Service Medal which was a ribbon and he received the Korean Citation.
The Korean War was known as the "Forgotten" War because it was squeezed between World War II & Vietnam. War was actually never declared in Korea; instead we were there as a police action. Rations and equipment were not the best as they were leftovers from World War II.
Returning after service life he did construction work. He was an operator of heavy equipment for Amos Pruss of Dodge, NE and later for Chuck Arps of North Bend, NE.
On July 27, 1957 he married Jeanette Wisnieski at St. Wenceslaus church in Dodge. In 1965 they moved to her parents farm and he farmed until retirement in 1999 and in 2009 they moved to Dodge.
