Clarence Tilton 'Tillie" Weber

4/5/1922 - 3/16/1996. Son of Clarence F. Weber and Marion Osby (Wisner). Born in Magnet, NE and graduated from Randolph High School. He graduated from Wayne State Teacher's College in 1946.

  He served in the US Coast Guard/USN  from 1942 -1946 as a BM1/Coxswain  aboard the troop transport ship USS Joseph T. Dickman .He served as a Higgins Boat driver and landed infantry troops at Fedhala Casablanca -1942, North Africa, Gela,Sicily - 1943, Salerno,Italy - 1943,  Utah Beach on Normandy -1944, and Southern France - 1944 in Europe.  He traversed the Panama Canal twice while traveling to the South Pacific when the USS Dickman assisted with the landings at Guadalcanal 1943 and Okinawa - 1945.  When the war ended he completed his service on the USCG Icebreaker Mackinaw in the Great Lakes stationed out of Cheboygan,MI.

He competed in track and field at WSTC and  for a number of local northeast Nebraska Pioneer League baseball teams.  IN June of 1940 Tilton and a few area athletes were selected to run in an exhibition race against Jesse Owens who was touring in Norfolk.  He was a long time  sports official for football and basketball and was a starter for  track and field meets until his death.

He was a career teacher, coach and administrator for schools in northeast Nebraska.  He served in the following school districts; Homer,Winnebago, Lyons, Snyder, Niobrara, Santee, Pierce County and retired from Plainview
