Clarice Lanier Rogers Overton, 98, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Thursday, July 28th at Duke University Medical Center.
A native of Granville County, the widow of Harry Lee Overton and the daughter of the late O-dell and Carrie Belle Jones Rogers. She was a life long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30th at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by Dr. Marc Tilley, Rev. Lenny Rogers, Rev. Roger L. Overton Jr. and Rev. Tommy Robertson. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford.
Surviving are four daughters, Carrie Belle O. Gillis, Bonnie O. Floyd (Ricky), Gail O. Miller (Rick), all of Oxford, Vivian O. Wright (Larry) of Henderson, five sons, Roger L. Overton (Carolyn) of Butner, Wayne O. Overton (Alice), Leonard J. Overton (Hattie Jean), William T. Overton and Donnie R. Overton (Kathy) all of Oxford, twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 745, Creedmoor, NC 27522.
Visitation 7:00-8:30 PM Friday evening, July 29th at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at 105 Holly Drive, Oxford, NC 27565.

I remember this being the anniversary of aunt Clarice death. I am reminded every day of her when depending on her Wimmie walker. Every one comments on the walker gives me great pleasure to tell people it was aunt Clarices. Still miss her so much, (great memories) Judy and Bobby

Mrs Overton was always in good spirit when I would visit. Her family is very lucky to have her as a leader and Mother to her family. She surely will be missed by all who knew her.

My children and grandchildren are so fortunate for being in the family of Grandmother Clarice. She will long be remembered by each of them as they grow and rear their families. They will always have such good memories of their grandmother.

Our family is so blessed to have had Aunt Clarice with us for so many years. I have so many fond memories of visiting with my aunt, uncle and cousins growing up. The support of the entire Overton family to us will be forever remembered in our hearts.

My grandma was one of the best people anyone could ever hope to meet. She was a good listener when needed. She loved all her family and wanted all of us to visit whenever we could. She loved her trips with her daughters and the family reunions that were held. These pictures are some from a few of her trips and a reunion in the past few years. There are so many pictures that there would never be enough room to see her wonderful life with her friends and family.
Grandma touched all of our lives in the best way anyone could imagine. I will never forget her and hope that the rest of my family feels the same as I do. I love you Grandma and I hope that you are at peace and with Granddaddy. Your Granddaughter, Daphne Lynn.
