With heavy hearts, the Sohn family regrets to announce the passing of our beloved Clarice Sohn, z’l. Born December 6, 1927, Clarice lived 93 wonderful years.

Clarice was the cherished wife of Fred Sohn, z’l; mother to Gary and Ed Sohn; mother-in-law to Julia Sohn; grandmother to Johannah and David Sohn; and great-grandmother to Shobi, Ilyah and Zeffen Loewenstein. Clarice’s brother, Leroy Rosenberg, z’l, was born with cerebral palsy and as such the United Cerebral Palsy organization was near and dear to her heart.

The long-time wife of a Jewish veteran, we also ask that any donations in her memory be made to the Jewish War Veterans.

Clarice’s kindness, generosity, and warmth will be deeply missed.

We have such wonderful memories of Clarice! She was so kind and thoughtful. You could always expect a big smile on her face and often a little twinkle in her eye! We were very fortunate to have her in our lives. She will be missed.

I won the Mother-in-law lottery

I remember being nervous meeting my future mother-in-law. You know all the stories and bad jokes about new brides and their mother-in-law‘s. The moment I met Clarice I knew that I had won the mother-in-law lottery. She was the most welcoming, generous and loving mother-in-law I could ever have imagined.

I’m sure you all have heard the saying that someone was so generous they would give you the shirt off their back. Clarice was that generous and more. One day I commented on how pretty her new jeans jacket was and how much I liked it. Well, you can guess what happened the next time I visited. There was her new jeans jacket on the kitchen table all folded up ready for me to take home.

Her kind heart, generosity and beautiful spirit will be greatly missed but her memory will live one forever in our hearts.

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy on Clarice's passing.  She was a very special person, always patient and kind.

Clarice was an integral part of our family and circle of friends. She was a regular at our weekly meditation groups and shared in our celebrations. Clarice spent many a Jewish holiday at our table. She became my Shabbat helper coming at 3 p.m. every Friday (before I got home at 5:30) to begin preparations for Shabbat dinner, allowing me to invite 9 other people to share in our festive Shabbat dinners.

We maintained contact for a long time when she moved to Chandler. She still joined us on occasion while she was driving the distance. Then it was just phone contact. When I couldn't reach her when I called recently, I was afraid that I would hear sad news. Which I did.

Clarice was ways behind the camera taking pictures at our events and then sharing them with everyone. I searched my photos and came up with two to share. She is with Eve in one and Eve and Leah in the other.

I have wonderful memories of Clarice and will always remember her for the lovely woman she was.

We so enjoyed seeing Clarice at all the family holiday gatherings, it will never be the same without her smiling face. Clarice was one of the most thoughtful people I’ve ever known and had the kindest heart. We will miss her and the memories she loved sharing from Cleveland.
Rest In Peace.

I'm sorry that you had to go
