Obituary for Claude Allen Tallman

Claude Allen ("Al") Tallman died Monday, June 25, 2018.  Al was the son of Claude Addison Tallman, MD and Neva Baldwin Tallman of Morenci, Michigan. He grew up in the Toledo, Ohio area, attended Scott High School in Toledo and went on to receive his Doctorate in Medicine at Ohio State University. 

He met the love of his life, Leah Ardis Hatcher, at Ohio State and after their marriage and his service in the Navy, they resided in Sylvania, Ohio where Al established his practice as a family physician serving that community for 27 years.  

He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy Medical Corp from 1946 to 1949, stationed in Oregon, California and Hawaii. 

His main passion, aside from family and friends, was his practice of medicine.  As the son of a surgeon and grandson of a family practitioner, Al grew up around the field of medicine.  He was known and appreciated for his knowledge of medicine and his easy going, caring manner with his patients.

He was a longtime member of Rotary Club, having served as President of the Sylvania, Ohio chapter. 

In 1977, the Tallman's moved from Ohio to Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida where Al served as the resort doctor for another 20 years before retiring.  Al enjoyed golfing at his home courses at Innisbrook and achieved a hole in one at the ripe age of 92. 

He is preceded in death by wife Leah and son Robert and survived by his daughter, Vicki Egnew (Jim) of Alexandria Virginia,  son, Jay Tallman (Tia) of Sarasota, Florida, grandchildren Devon Tallman of Denver, Colorado, Logan Tallman of Sarasota, Florida,  Josh  Egnew (Emily) of New York, Cori Woods (Chris) of Alexandria, Virginia; great grandchildren Zoe and Camille Woods.
