Her Life

The Beginning

August 29, 2019
In January of 1991, I received a phone call from a dear friend telling me that she had found the perfect partner for me after a few years of mentoring, teaching and love by her and her husband. I continued to get these calls every evening, always being ended with a "Hee, Hee" and no other information. Finally, one evening, she gleefully told me they were a meeting a church group in their home Friday evening and she would be there, and with a very forceful tone emphasized "You WILL be there also, or ELSE". After spending the last couple of years under this couple's tutelage, I knew the "being there" was a much better idea than the "or else". So I showed up that Friday evening, January 9th, 1991.
After introductions, we played some games, there was some small talk and refreshments. After a little bit, she said she needed to go home. No reason, just had to. I wished her a good evening and she left, and I took our dishes and glasses into the kitchen When my friend asked about what I thought, all I could say was, "I don't know, she left". During the week, though, I kept talking with my friend, trying to figure out what was happening. Finally, I asked if I could have her phone number. She said she would ask and get back to me.
The next day she called, and told me her phone number and hinted that the young lady sounded eager to have me call.

Our Journey

September 1, 2019
Where to start?? Claudia never meet a stranger or saw anything bad in another of Gods children.
Overall Claudia kept a good attitude and when that was not possible she turned to scripture.
She was a strong, independent, determined, enthusiastic, supportive, positive, helpful, outgoing, loving, kind, giving of self and time, and Loved God from sun up to sun dawn, with every breath she took.
Other than God, here greatest passion was her family. All her children, grandchildren, and life made family and friends. Even with most of them far away she still spoke of them almost everyday and longed to be able to see them more often.

During our time together Claudia and I would work in the yard fighting vines and uncovering Gods hidden beauty or sit on the patio, reading scripture, doing bible study, or playing games and drinking coffee.

While she loved the beauty of summer her favorite time was Christmas and she spent a lifetime delving into the biblical nature of this holiday. Once you got her started talking about her book on the topic, it would be several hours before she could end the topic.
Claudia enjoyed music even while she had a hard time hearing, she could feel the beat and if some one was singing she would read lips and sing with.
During her illness, if you meet Claudia somewhere, you would never know what was going on with her. She would smile, laugh and become a friend to everyone always.
More to follow but for now....
Heaven is truly blessed to have Claudia home, and we are all blessed to have her watching over us till we join her.

I met Claudia a long time ago and introduced her and Tony. They wound up getting married at my house in Whitehouse, Ohio. What a lovely day that was. Claudia and I worked together at a store I had at the time. What a helper she was. I loved her and missed her and Tony when they moved.
So glad she knew the Lord and I will see her again in Heaven some day.

Greatly Missed and Loved

September 1, 2019

Claudia Hemmelgarn went home on Monday, August 26, 2019. Claudia was born August 17 1944 in Toledo Ohio. Claudia is survived by Husband Tony Hemmelgarn, 3 sisters and 2 brothers, 4 children, Robbie Hovey, Rebecca Gruszecki, Richard Hovey and Carrie Rogers, 14 grand children, and 3 great grandchildren.

Claudia attended The Doctorial Bible College and loved the Lord Jesus every day of her life. Additionally, she was known for her witness for Christ.

During her walk with the Lord many learned to love and trusted Christ as their Savior and Lord. She loved to garden, study scripture and share Gods goodness.

She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman and her children in the faith as well as her own children and grandchildren all rise up and call her blessed.

There will be a graduation celebration service to honor her life at Doctorial Bible Study Church on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 with a reception following afterward. Additionally, Thursday evening an additional graduation celebration at Skyline Village for her dear friend there.
