Cletus Robert Doernemann was born on Oct. 11, 1930, to John and Teresia (Pieper) Doernemann near Aloys. He attended the Hilly View rural school south of Dodge. He farmed with his father prior to marriage. On April 4, 1956, Cletus was united in marriage to Donna Steffensmeier at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple purchased a farm southwest of Dodge, where he continued to farm. Cletus has been affiliated with Producers Hybrids of Battle Creek for a long period of time. Cletus was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, served on its Parish Council, helped with the building of the church, and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He served on the board of directors of Cooperative Supply in Dodge and was a member of the Hart Parr Oliver Collectors Association.
