Constance Lee Wagner, age 68, of Jacksonville, AR, formerly of Prairie du Chien, WI, passed away September 22, 2016, at her home following a brief battle with cancer. She was born November 13, 1947, the second oldest of five children to Merrill and Wanda (Thompson) Rutter.

A 1965 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School, she and her husband made their home on several Air Force bases, raising three children and  later settling in Gwinn, MI, where she worked for several years at the K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base Post Office. After the marriage ended, Connie resided in Aurora, IL. She was employed at Walmart for over 21 years, first at store #1818 in Aurora, then store #24 in Jacksonville, AR. She will be fondly remembered for her warm smile and caring disposition, her love for family, friends and colleagues, her appreciation of holiday celebrations that included lutefisk and lefse, her collection of angels, and gift for the art of knitting.

Connie is survived by 3 children; Craig Wagner of Cabot, AR, Todd Wagner of Holland, MI, and Michelle (Dan) Noel of Marquette, MI; two sisters, Janine (Luke) Lucas of Prairie du Chien, WI, and Vickie (Roger) Sawvell of Weston, WI; a sister-in-law, Janice Rutter of Prairie du Chien, three grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, beloved companion, Daniel Berry, infant son, Jeffrey, older sister, Diane Keller, younger brother, Jerry Rutter, brother-in-law, John Keller, and Jerry Wagner, the father of her children.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Connie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Francine Berry and Joyce Berry for their special care during her illness.
