I left a picture of Marilyn Ray Miller and Joan Jardine Smith, along with Connie taken in the early 1980 in Valparaiso, Indiana at Dick and Joan Smith's house. Dr. Herbert Scott Ray was Marilyn and Connie's father and his sister, Helen Ray Jardine, was my mother. We cousins saw a lot of each other when we were growing up.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since Connie passed and went on to be with Jesus. The days have flown with many thoughts of her and  Lloyd. Her son Rick has kept in touch and I like hearing about what’s going on with him. To all who visit the site, I send blessings.

I tried to contact my cousin, Connie, recently and when I got no responce to my email, I Googled her name and was so sorry to learn that she had passed away two years ago. Since I am six years older, that came as a shock.  I want to add my thoughts about what a wonderful person she was, and how I enjoyed seeing her through the years, even if infrequently. I have no way to contact Rick, but I am sorry for his loss, and grateful that this "Forever Missed" provides a way to be in touch. I will add more details under "Stories" later. Joan Jardine Smith

My Step-Mom was always ever so kind, warm and supportive. She was positive and enthusiastic, lifting everyone up that she met. Very talented and creative, she spread beauty and love all around her. It was in this environment that she cared for my Dad Lloyd and he cared for her, both supporting each other. I have such wonderful memories of my annual visits, our time together and our conversations. I am so grateful to her and that she was part of my life. A beautiful, precious person...

Constance was such a kind, gracious and loving soul. Her cheerful personality could bring sunshine on a cloudy day. I know she was my dad's best friend and they shared many happy years together. I'm grateful to have known her and shared good times together.

Connie was an effusively joy-filled friend who loved with the passion of our Lord. She shared special memories after her first husband died and as she entered into her relationship with Lloyd. And, she walked with me through my romance and marriage to my wonderful husband. She even brought Lloyd to our wedding! I still have the doll dress and hat she made from her tapestry and upholstery for my antique doll. Her talents endless, and her love for the Lord contagious. I shall always be grateful for our time together on earth, and shall look forward to seeing her in the glories. Praise the Lord for the life of Constance!

My Mom was a very talented! She painted amazing pictures in oils and watercolors. She could make weaving and pottery, stained glass art and many other crafts. Her creative gift inspired me! I will miss her dearly! Her love for the Lord overflowed in everything she created!

Connie and I have been spiritual sisters since the early 80's. God called us to love and worship and to stay connected no matter where she and Lloyd moved to or lived. She was always open to spiritual talk and we were able to draw and pour forth from each other. She was a wonderful friend and I shall truly miss her but so happy she's with God!

Constance was and always will be a great Light in my life. I met her 8 years ago on an online Bible Study. She asked me for my email address and we were instant friends and sisters in Christ. We have had a deep and wonderful relationship....amazingly meaningful and precious on many levels. For me, she and Lloyd are just on the other side cheering US all on In Christ! I will always love her with all my heart. What she has done for me reaches into heaven is ever present with me here in Earth. I cherish you my Sweet Constance forever....

Janis and I send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Constance and Lloyd. They were such a blessing to us in our Christian walk and sharing and I was always glad to speak to them or have communication with them. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. These both will always be held in fond memory in our hearts. Ken and Janis Visscher, Canada

Driving in the car

April 7, 2020
One of my many memories of her was in the car traveling. We had this old Ford LTD 4 door sedan, more like a tank! On long trips with my real father (Frederick towne Melges) she and he would sing many old songs that I had never heard of. "the girl that I loved with the dark brown hair", "Deep river", "John, Jacob , Jingle heimer schmidt" and many others. Many good times remembered going places with the whole family, My mom (Connie) my Dad (Fred) my brother (Kurt) and Me (Rick).

Flowers are so pretty!

April 29, 2017

Going on vacation trips with my mom was always an adventure. Not only did she see things for the beauty they are...but also along the road while she was driving!??!?

Many times she would exclaim.."Look at those pretty flowers!!" pointing out the window and following the patch of beauties with her finger all the way turning backward, much to our chagrin!!

But it was a happy funny time as I remember it!

How Rusty met Connie (Via Joni Green - Rusty's Sister)

April 29, 2017

She has been such a good friend since college days ( I saw her for the first time in Chicago at a huge symphony concert... Her Mother and my Mother were sorority sisters (Gamma Phi) at NW... and Gert and Connie asked us to come in for this concert. I still remember seeing her : in a suit she sewed herself!!!

When I got home Rusty kept complaining to me that there were no good girls he liked...
I suggested Connie as she was at MSU and he could call and meet her.
Well...after about 50 inquiries, he finally got the nerve to call. As he was waiting in the Dorm for her, he was watching lots of "rejects" walk by; BUT when she walked in with three other girls, he said to himself: "If only that was Connie", and to his
amazement, she walked up to him and said ,"Are you Rusty Melges?"... Well,
they became engaged that summer (Fourth of July ) and I had many, many
wonderful times with her .:)) So thankful she has been in my life and you can
tell her all this. Love you alllll so much!
