This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Corrinne King, 84 years old, born on January 1, 1939, and passed away on December 26, 2023. We will remember her forever.
Corrinne just missed her 85th birthday. She died of complications related to pneumonia surrounded by the wonderful staff at UAB Highlands. Her previous nurses would come by to visit even when not assigned to her. Her smile and demeanor captured their hearts.
Corrinne was employed at UAB for more than 30 years in Information Systems. Having no formal training, her intellect made her a very capable systems analyst.
Corrinne studied Music at Birmingham Southern. She loved to sing, dance, and play piano. She was very admired for her piano accompaniment talents by many people and played the organ for multiple churches since age 12. She was music minister at a Cumberland Presbyterian church for almost 10 years where she planned music for services, led several choirs including the children's choir, and played the piano and organ - sometimes all at the same time. She also was music director at a small church in Roebuck.
Corrinne is survived by her four children who all reside in different states: twins Mark Dolan and Lynn Noland (spouse Terry Noland), Pamela Padgett, and Dave Padgett (spouse Amanda Padgett). She also has four grandchildren: Kirsten Padgett, Madison Padgett, Lily Aldrich, Zachary Noland. She worked very hard and made many sacrifices as a single mom to provide the best for her children. She was very committed to ensuring Pamela and Dave could participate in AAU swimming competitions. She spent the first 11 years of motherhood caring for a very ill child and 11 years of her retirement caring for another ill child. Her sacrifice and love is appreciated and treasured.
One of Corrinne's greatest achievements besides her children was quitting smoking after 60 years in 2013 and never smoked again. She loved dogs and always had one since her children were 2 years old. At one time, she had a total of seven. She could never turn them away. Tootsie and Tinkerbell miss her.
Corrinne loved attending East Lake United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the music and worship.
As a family, we always sang Christmas carols together - as children and when we visited. Singing carols and Sound of Music songs in the hospital together was our last best memory before her passing. Our hearts are empty because she is not here but filled with joy that she is with the Lord.
We will celebrate Corrinne's life on January 13, 2024 at East Lake United Methodist Church 7753 1st Ave S, Birmingham, Alabama 35206.
