Sgt. Major will definitely be missed. He was truly an inspiration and had a very uplifting spirit. He always found a way to make me smile and always left me with words of encouragement. He was one of the teachers that actually looked forward to seeing each day at school because I knew he would have me laughing and crying at the same time. I miss him and he will be remembered forever.

Oh the words I have for Csm Martin. He was close to my family and we all loved him. My mom told me at the reunion that I didn't get to go to instead of saying the Simmons' he said the kendras' which makes me smile that he remembered me (and said my name and not my bros) I get so sad when I think of him being gone but then I think of what he taught me and the good times and I have to smile

CSM Martin was a bright light in my time at North. I was new to Texas and he helped me to make my year the best one. He introduced me to wonderful people and would let me stay in the ROTC room when my ride home wouldn't show. I will miss the wonderful man who was a rock when I was just a pebble rolling in the wind. Thank you for not giving upon me when I gave up on myself. Much Love.....

I was deeply sadden when I woke up with a text from my sister telling me the news. I've known Csm Robert Martin since my older brother was in North's JROTC program. He always came up after award ceremonies and chatted with my parents and scared my little 8 year old self to death lol, with his height and big booming voice. "Little Tennent's" is what he always called my sister and I. When I finally

I don't know where to begin, CSM Martin. You were a definite favorite of my time at North. You were a father figure when I had no other, a great mentor and leader. I became a better person because of you and for this I will be forever grateful. You will be missed but I know one day I will see you again. Thank you for being you....

There aren't enough good words to say about this great man. He was a father to any one of us who wore the JROTC uniform - including many of those who went on to serve our nation proudly. I was blessed enough to be able to stay in touch long after I'd left NMHS, and I'll miss him terribly.

CSM Martin,
There aren't words to adequately express my pain and the sense of loss I am feeling right now. I love you, I miss you...your passing leaves a void in my heart that can't be filled. When I needed a father figure, you were there for me and never left that role. I am better because of you. Thank you for everything...

You became my dad at 13 years old and I knew God brought you into my life to lead me in the right direction. I begged my mother to let me join the Army and she said no everyday, but then you spoke to her and she came home that day and signed the papers. I have had the best 14 years of my life in the Army,My heart aches that I was never able to see you again and tell you what you did for my life,

From Cadet to soldier, you were a huge influential role in my success. I'll never forget the day we were sitting in the range doing a class on flag etiquette. I told you I could never join the service again after leaving the Air Force, and you told me, "Well that's okay, you'd make a better preacher anyhow." And now I've been in the Army 3 years... You made me a better me. Eternal Thanks.

SGT MAJOR MARTIN was the greatest man I knew. I didn't have a father around and was lacking a little parenting I guess you could say. He stepped up as he has many others and would pull me aside during or after class and would give me some stern talkings. While I was in his ROTC program, I also was pregnant. At first I was upset because I considered him as a father figure and once I found out I was pregnant I truly thought that he would have been disgusted with me. However, he wasn't. He put his arms around me and hugged my neck and told me everything would be fine, and would all work out. Now the daughter that I was pregnant with is 14 yrs old and also is attending North Mesquite High School. She is in the choir. Everyone says shes my twin. Lol. If he had seen her Im sure he would have agreed. Even though he has passed he will never ever be forgotten. He has made many changes in alot of peoples lives. We were all blessed to have such a great man in our lives. God Bless You SGT MAJOR MARTIN. You will forever be missed.
