Heart Broken

April 24, 2020
Brooklyn,
Your father was a wonderful man. You were a teenager when I first met your dad. I lived in Memphis and he and I shared a lot of fond memories. He spoke of you and your daughter Sydney often. I met Sydney a few times when her grandmother would let Vince spend time with her.
I had the pleasure of meeting your grandmother (his mom) and spending time with her and your Aunt Jan. We sat around at Jan’s and laughed at the stories her and your grandmother/step-grandfather told of him and Jan growing up. He went home to Missouri with me on several occasions and my family loved him as if they had known him for a long time. Your dad’s presence made anyone hey met feel comfortable.
Your dad was a biggggg story teller and whether they were true or fabricated, I loved listening to him tell them over and over because he always knew how to make me laugh.
Your dad came to Chicago to visit me in the Summer of 2016. I never knew how much I missed him until I saw him that day and truly wish now he would have stayed here with me. He was working at that time but I could tell your dad wasn’t well but just so I wouldn’t worry he promised me he was just wore of from working and making that drive. I’m know this is late but I never really knew if what was being said was true until now. Curtis Vincent was the only tie I had left in Memphis and I think I held on to this being another one of his ways of getting me to come check on him. I was afraid of what I was going to find out, just like now....it feels like it just happened.
I know I have poured a quart into a pint but with all that has been said, I loved your dad, he was my dearest friend and I know with my whole heart, your daddy loved you and Sydney. You be blessed and know I’m praying for you.

With Love,
Dionn
