In memory of Cyndyn Bridge, daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Cyndyn approached life with grace, poise, courage and style. Forever loved and remembered.

October 1, 1958 - May 13, 2021.

Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate Cyndyn's life on June 22, 2021, at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Cyndyn's love of Yellowstone National Park and the many memories of camping here, the family would like to honor her by sponsoring a Bear Box in Yellowstone. Thank you to all who donated! Cyndyn's Bear Box was placed in the Summer of 2022. Cyndyn's Bear Box lives in the Madison Campground.

Cyndyn's Bear Box will permanently "bear" her name and inscription in a Yellowstone Campground. For more information or to contribute visit: https://gofund.me/a0131e7e

Hey mom. I miss you everyday. Paz and I got a new pup. His name is Link. Remember the video game Zelda. I would sneak off to play instead of doing my homework! He’s so cute and friendly! You would love him so much! I Miss you. I wish I could just pick up the phone and call you. Life is so messy and you made it so much more clear.

Dearest Cyndyn,

I’ve been thinking about friendship, what a true friend is. If a true friend is someone who has been with you through decades of raising kids, adventures, fun, tears, chaos, and hilarity, then you are my truest friend. If it’s someone who listens to every word you say with interest and caring, then you are my true friend. If it’s someone who brings her exquisite mushroom soup to your home when you’ve had yet another surgery after having fallen 20 feet, you are that friend. Someone who offers to drive ten minutes out of her way to carpool the kids to preschool so that tiny classmates become lifelong friends. Someone who hosts festive Christmas Eve parties full of warmth and love, every single year! Fabulous summer barbecues in your gorgeous backyard with the lush flowers and sparkling fountain and always great food. Once you even included dear friends of mine who were visiting from out of town and they’ll never forget it. Your annual
Halloween party with all the trimmings including tortilla bats made it my absolute favorite holiday. Botanic Garden concerts with gourmet picnics... and camping with you… let’s just say you bring it to a higher level: luxurious! You know I can’t garden without feeling you by my side. An array of gifts from you keep us cozy, decorate our home, remind us of your generosity.

We share so many thousands– if not millions– of moments that they cannot possibly all be remembered– dinners at Las D’s, Locanda, our backyard. Remember when you and Randy joined us with my parents at the Blue Bonnet? A Silver Creek ski trip for Randy’s birthday. Picking out Christmas trees at City Floral. So, so many baseball games and lunch at the Red Robin or anywhere we ended up. Taking the kids to Elitch’s. Working on auctions and after-prom. You made East High into a Hogworts stage set! And how many movies did we see together- Avatar to Oh Brother! Whether in a theater or our basement, always with corn! Oysters and Oscars in your living room. Mia Farrow at the Buell. And you are in that small group, so important to me, who never missed an opening at my gallery. Painting a watercolor of your house was an honor and a favorite commission of mine. You came by to see the renovation in my Tudor condo very near your house, which has the same plaster work as yours! Visiting the Homestead and seeing what you and Randy created there for older people meant so much to me.

Max and Devon’s beautiful backyard wedding with Julian’s eloquent, heartfelt blessing– how proud, how happy were you, my dear friend?

I like to think that you and Randy could easily come up with twice as many memories of wonderful times, ranging from crazy to lovely.

I hope you know how happy I was when you and Randy drove up to see our mountain house-in-progress. You came to see it even before we started and I am so grateful we had that lunch on the rock cliff. Knowing you and Randy had built a home inspired us as we built ours.

Inspiring... that’s what you are. I miss you so much!

Just thinking about you a lot today momma. I miss you so much. I feel like you would have been proud of me the last couple weeks! I’ve felt you so much lately when needing to advocate for myself. You really did create a strong person, even if I don’t see him all the time. Your always here to guide my way.

I sit on the back porch you curated for us. The fountain gently making white noise in the background.
It’s two days before your celebration of life and I’m having more of a hard time then ever. I don’t know what to say, I’m anxious about all the family flying in. Yet I think of you. Your Grace. Your patients, your courage and I know I can do it! I love you forever and always.

Cyndyn, I remember the day you arrived to survey the house for sale next door about 30 years ago. It has been our pleasure to have you and Randy as wonderful next door neighbors for all these years. We shared travel experiences, saw Julian and Max grow up, and always envied your expertise in creating a most wonderful back yard garden. Cyndyn (and Randy) hosted the most extra-ordinary Christmas Eve parties which we always looked forward to. Words cannot express our sorrow in her passing. Cyndyn was inspirational and so strong as she struggled these past years and her love for family and friends is and will be an ongoing inspiration to both of us.  RIP Cyndyn.

No one faced life or cancer with as much grace, courage and poise (and style). She taught me that you can never have too many shoes (they all have a purpose), the song you sing when you cross into Idaho, and that there is always time to stop at Starbucks. She also taught me that family is simply who you love and that the table is always big enough for whoever wants to come. She loved her family and friends fiercely, and I am so lucky to be counted in that group. She was much, much more than just my Mother-in-Law. I miss her terribly but know she’s with us as the breeze on a beautiful spring day, or the rare sighting of her favorite animal, a Moose. I love you Cyndyn.

Her Life

The long roads! Harry Potter. All the books! 1 through 7/8! Rewinding them whenwe fell asleep. I think dad liked re-listening to them…at least that’s what you always told us.

my kids will love Harry Potter on the way to Yellowstone as I always did! Tradition

Cyndyn Ann Bridge

May 24, 2021
Born October 1, 1958, Cyndyn was a week late coming into the world. But, true to her life standard, she was perfect before making her appearance into the world—beautiful, full head of fabulous blond hair, peaches, and cream complexion and that look we all came to know and love – the one that said, “I’m in charge!”

Cyndyn grew up in beautiful Boise, Idaho. She was a happy, bubbly little girl with a zest for life. Her love for camping started young as camping was a (nearly) every weekend experience growing up, with Mom, Dad, little sister Diana, and often extended family. The whole family would head for the mountains with the dune buggy in tow.

The other piece that started early for Cyndyn was her love of spending time with family. She was close with Baba, her grandfather, and Nanny, her grandmother. Baba & Cyndy (as he called her) had a standing date every Wednesday, where they planned something fun and always ended with an ice cream cone.

In school, Cyndyn was a Girl Scout, a drill team member, sang in the choir, and participated in sports. She loved to ski and often would catch the bus to Bogus Basin by herself. Skiing continued to be a favorite past-time throughout her life.

At Boise State University, she met a young man from Grangeville, Idaho, Randy Bridge. When Randy first entered Cyndyn's world, it was apparent those two were perfect for each other, soulmates destined to spend a life together. So, on May 20, 1978, they married at the Cathedral of the Rockies in Boise in front of a church full of family and friends.

The new Bridge's settled in Boise, where they built their first home together, with their own hands (and the hands of many friends and family). The classy duplex they built held many fond memories through the four years they lived there.

They both loved the pacific northwest, and in 1982, they moved to Seattle. Cyndyn and Randy explored everything Seattle had to offer in the five years they lived there. Here is where Cyndyn developed her deep love of a cool, rainy day, a great latte, Nordstrom, and Place Pigalle. They often spent the weekend perusing the fish market and gathering the ingredients for Cyndyn to perfect a recipe. In Seattle, she mastered the art of fettuccine alfredo, now a family classic often requested for birthdays and special occasions.

Cyndyn and Randy had many adventures both near and far before their two sons were born. Becoming a mother fulfilled her true calling. Julian was born in 1989 and Maxwell in 1991. Cyndyn and Randy taught their sons early their love of skiing, camping, Yellowstone, and family. They spent winters skiing and summers camping as a family, with Yellowstone always on the itinerary.

Nature was where Cyndyn liked to be, with drives into the mountains being a regular occurrence. Fittingly she loved to garden, with her backyard being a point of pride and her place of solace.

An incredible cook, Cyndyn was the definition of the consummate host. Having people over was something she loved, from barbecues in the summer, Thanksgiving in the Fall, to her annual Christmas Eve gathering and everything in-between, from birthdays and CU tailgates to a random Saturday. This love of cooking and hosting was also passed down to both sons.

Cyndyn really relished having her family around her. Even COVID couldn't stop her as she found creative ways to get her family together. For example, she hosted COVID-safe socially distanced movie nights in her backyard by renting a projector and screen, complete with a popcorn machine (and peanut M&Ms)!

A prolific person, Cyndyn was an accomplished businesswoman in addition to her many other personal achievements. Building and running with Randy and her parents, first Caretakers of America (1986) and then the Homestead at Lakewood (1998).

Cyndyn had many gifts, from staging a home, picking the perfect outfit, and hosting an incredible party (as mentioned). In addition, she had the gift of grace under pressure, kindness, courage, and poise.

She also had the gift of being a great friend and listener, a cherished daughter, a treasured sister and aunt, and the perfect Mom to her boys and Randy's only love. Cyndyn worked hard throughout her life to create memories with those she loved. These memories will forever be the legacy of Cyndyn, our dear friend, daughter, sister, wife, and mother.

Halloween

November 14, 2022
We had a Halloween party at the house this year. You would have loved it! We made chili like you used too and had the whole house decorated to the nines. Your light truly shines bright in this home your created. Paz is such a good party host and decorator(among other things). Sometime I have to wonder if some of your spirit lives inside of him. I know it does. As it does us all. I wish you could have gotten to know him better in life, but I know you both are connected regardless. We even lit the house up with big outdoor lights! Looked so cool! I’ll add some pictures!

As Cyndyn's Only Daughter

June 28, 2021
I have the distinct honor of being Cyndyn's only Daughter. Technically I am her daughter-in-law, but the "in-law" part never actually mattered to her. The daughter part was what she cared about.
It was a little daunting to come into the Bridge family, a family that I could tell was close from the onset. But, more than that, it was palpable how fiercely she loved her boys. Her world revolved around her family, but she was generous with her love, and I, too, was enveloped into her family sphere.
Some people may not know this, but I also worked for her when I first moved out to Colorado in addition to being her Daughter. For a year, I spent nearly every waking hour with her. I spent the day as her employee as she taught me how to stage a house and manage a business. The nights being a family, watching movies, making dinner, and showing me around Denver.
And you get to love and know someone pretty well when you spend all your time with them. I learned about her childhood and the years she and Randy spent in both Bosie and Seattle. Stories about the business and many, many stories about Max & Julian. But the biggest thing I learned was how deeply she loved her family.
That is also the thing I  admired most in Cyndyn, her priorities. There was never any question about what came first—her family. So for me, it was really an easy decision when Max proposed and asked for forever. I knew he meant it because I knew, first-hand, the example that had been set by his parents' marriage and the priorities they lived out—it would always be family first.
Like I said, Cyndyn was generous. Generous with herself and her time. She always picked up the phone when I called. Though I know sometimes I called in the middle of something, she never had to go. She'd spend hours on the phone, helping me with this and that. Listening or reading my cover letter for the 12th time (or spend years looking at wedding venues and dresses).
No matter how long I needed, she had that time. We spent countless hours together in her kitchen, me sitting at the island pouring out my soul while she cooked. We spent many more countless hours shopping together. She helped me find the perfect blazer for every job interview I'll ever have. My first winter coat, my first pair of hiking boots and pants. She also helped me buy my first car. She quite literally test drove every midsize SUV this city [Denver] had to offer with me.
In addition to our love of Max, Cyndyn and I share a love of clothes. And to some of you, shopping may seem like a silly hobby. But for Cyndyn and I, it was our time together. And it was really less about the stuff than the in-between moments. The stories she'd tell, the life and laughs we'd share. It was about the car ride there, the lattes and the lunch we'd have together more than the prizes, though we found a lot of prizes. Because she was the most stylish person I have ever met, I tried to emulate her. I copied her, right down to her socks.
There are a lot of tropes about Mothers-in-Law. Though those stereotypes that inform pop culture couldn't be further from the truth of my experience. Cyndyn took me in as her own, she loved me. Over the last nine years, she's become an everyday part of my life, a cornerstone in my foundation. She was my confidant, my cheerleader, and my Second Mom. She gave me advice and pep talks; she quieted my tears. She helped make me who I am. She welcomed me and made me a Bridge long before I actually was one.
Her love language was quality time, and she loved hard that way. Cyndyn didn't just make me feel special—to her, I was. I'm sure many of you felt that too. She was genuine and cared deeply about those around her.
She taught me about style, confidence, and grace in the face of insurmountable odds. She taught me to be more Polly Anna and that everything you need to know will be on the Sunday Morning Show. She shared with me her life and taught me about loyalty and love. I look back, remembering who I was and who she has helped me become. There is a Cyndyn sized hole in my life as I look forward, and I'll miss her every day. But I will raise my own family, following her as my guide, as her Daughter.

Summers in Yellowstone

May 26, 2021
Yellowstone was huge part of my family’s life. Every summer on our way to visit my grandparents in idaho we would go through Yellowstone. When we were younger we would camp. As we all got older we would stay in the various lodges around the park. Such a beautiful place and one that will hold part of my moms spirit forever. I will write more on Yellowstone in the coming days.
