A friendly smile, a kind hello.
You made this a beautiful place to be.
Never too busy to stop and chat, never too frazzled for a welcome gaze.
That was you. And no one can ever take your place
In our hearts, and in our minds
You remain. Always, forever, the same

"I met Mr Sahadath a couple times, first when my son started grade 9. I walked in his office unsure what to expect as it was a very frustrated time for me and my son. When i leave that room at the end of the meeting, i was so confident that my son is in the right hand, because Mr Sahadath was so respectable, mannerable and caring, He was a very dedicated straight forward person, RIP.Sir"

Cyril is my Uncle and high school track coach. He was tough on all of his students and athletes because he could see the potential that most others would miss. He has had a very positive impact in my life and will be missed. I can still hear him yelling down the halls of PHS during track practice and joking with us as "one of the guys". My team mates will agree that he is one of a kind.

I have known Cyril as a coach with the Oshawa Optimists before they became the Durham Excels. I moved to different provinces, different countries, different cities but whenever i would see him at a track meet he always gave me a "hey yo-yo what's shaking" and then the biggest hug to go along with that constant big smile.

Our family first met Mr. Sahadath 3 years ago when our daughter was leaving Cadarackque to attend PHS - she has her own way of learning. I will never forget this teacher - so reassuring, so passionate, so caring and such a straight shooter. At the AR he remained the same - always providing support. My daughter is an honours student today, thanks to Mr. Sahadath's vote of confidence. RIP.

We are all mourning the loss of Cyril, someone who cared so very much for others! At PHS, he was an inspiration to all as a teacher, coach, and mentor. Many times Cyril would come to me and say "Hey Boss, how can we help this kid?" Every time, he had a solution that made a difference in their lives! Thank you Cyril for making our lives brighter. Your light will shine on forever.

Despite never having Mr. Sahadath as a coach, or teacher, I still knew who he was and what amazing things he did for Pickering high school. And every time I'd have to go to A.R for something, he and I would chat for a few minutes, or just smile and say hi. It always made my day a lot better. You're in our hearts and prayers as well as all that are mourning. Rest in peace.

After the clouds, the sunshine,
after the winter, the spring,
after the shower, the rainbow,
for life is a changeable thing.
After the night, the morning,
bidding all darkness cease,
after life's cares and sorrows,
the comfort and sweetness of peace.

Cyril didn't know me, but I witnessed his coaching and teams throughout the years in Ottawa. I overheard one conversation he had with a young athlete at the LJ pit. The young boy was swaggering back to the on deck area after a big jump. Cyril quickly said to him, "why are you swaggering? You haven't won anything YET!". Perhaps a glimpse into his coaching philosophy and values.

When my son entered Grade 9 with special needs, as a mom i was anxious, wondering if my son would be lost in this system. Mr. Sahadath sat me down and the one thing he said that will forever resonate with me was "I haven't lost a kid yet, go home and I'll call you if I can't handle it". They say one person can make a difference... Its true, thank you sir for making a difference, RIP.

If you worked hard Cyril would work with you as long as you needed. We spent many hours in his office talking about everything. He made Sundays at bingo enjoyable. Our trips went smoothly due to him.You could rely on him. Most people have no idea of the time he spent helping kids & the affection they have for him. He was an unbelievable help during the illness and passing of Justin Best.

I didn't say it before but maybe you might want to read this from heaven. Thanks for giving my son AJ Estridge the added confidence that he needed to enhance his life. He can proudly sport the Pickering colours because of you. Sorry for making him miss so many track practices for music practice. Track will forever be a part of his history and you will be the reason for it. Thanks.

I was saddened to hear of Cyril's recent passing.

I knew him when we were boys andcompeting hurlders at LOSSA etc back in our high school years. Our competitive relationship continued for several years, including when we were at University.

I always thought highly of Cyril, his competitive nature and outgoing/friendly spirit.

I'd admired how Cyril and stayed in the sport and had become such an accomplished coach.

My condolences to his family.

Mr Sahadath was the perfect example of a teacher who was committed to the improvement and success of his students whether they were track athletes or special needs students.

He was a people person-but what else would you expect-he was a Trini-lol!

I had the priviledge of knowing him as a former student of PHS and my son also had the privelidge to know him as well.

He has blessed generations and his legacy will live on in our hearts and in our student's achievements.

My family extends our condolences to the Sahadath family, you have much to be proud of.

He is a true legend.

God's comfort and Peace be with you.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our beloved teachers.  Cyril Sahadath is considered an icon at Pickering High School. He has worked at PHS for 25 years and is an established school leader in many ways.  As Head of the Special Education Department Cyril provided support for students with special needs and for students ‘at risk’.  He will be greatly missed, not only in his capacity as veteran Teacher-Mentor but perhaps, most importantly, as a father figure to many students.  He will be most remembered as Head Coach for the PHS Track & Field Team.  Amongst his many accomplishments, June 2011 comes to mind.  It was in Sudbury, Ontario when PHS won both Overall Girls and Boys titles and back-to-back victories at the OFSAA Track & Field Championships. This meet is considered one of North America’s most competitive track meets every year. Cyril brought the PHS Track Team to win 13 OFSAA Championships over his coaching career, which makes him the only coach to accomplish this feat.  Furthermore, he and his teams have been recognized by the Town of Ajax for their many accomplishments in this very competitive discipline.

Cyril was always quick to compliment the students by saying, “the kids did a great job”.  Let’s take a moment to say… Cyril, you did a great job!

On behalf of the students and staff at Pickering High School, we send our condolences to the Sahadath family.
