Let the memory of Barrett be with us forever
  • 36 years old
  • Born on June 21, 1977 in Trenton, New Jersey, United States.
  • Passed away on October 7, 2013 in Sanibel, Florida, United States.

This memorial site has been created in memory of D. Barrett Anding, who was lost to us so suddenly on Monday, October 7, 2013.  We hope to grow the site as a way of remembering Barrett; a loving Father, Husband, Son, Brother and Friend.  We encourage you to post not only a short tribute below, but please take the time to share any stories, photos or videos that you have of Barrett by clicking the "Stories" tab above.  In addition to being a way for us all to remember Barrett, these will be saved for his daughter Jacqueline to reflect on as she gets older.  Cards and letters can be mailed to Jaqueline and Dayna at 6447 Pine Avenue, Sanibel FL 33957

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the education account that has been set up for Barrett & Dayna's daughter, Jacqueline.  Checks should be made out to "Jacqueline Anding" and can be mailed to Joe or Leslie Anding, 291 Ferry Landing, Sanibel FL 33957.   The memo field on the check should ONLY SAY "Jacqueline" on it.

Additionally, donations can now be made via credit card or PayPal account and processed securely through PayPal (you do not have to have a PayPal account to contribute).  We are trying to resolve a technical issue that is preventing us from adding the the PayPal "Donate Button" to this page.  In the mean time, you can still make credit card and PayPal donations by clicking on the link below.  If you choose to make a contribution via credit card, you will receive an error if that same card is associated with an existing PayPal account.

We truly appreciate all of the kind Tributes, Stories and Photos that have been added to this site.

Thinking about Barrett today on his birthday!!!!!!!!!!! June 21,2015

I didn't know until this summer that Barrett had a favorite flower! It is the sunflower and I think that is fitting since the first time Brrett came to visit our family state side was when we lived in Kansas and the Kansas State Flower is the Sunflower. It reminds me of his smile always sunny and bright. I don't know what we would have done without the Anding family when we moved to Berlin Germany! That is where we all met and became immediate friends. Barrett and sister Devan where a breathe of fresh air not to mention Leslie and Joe! We will miss him forever!

I will always remember Barrett"s infectious smile and the way he always made me feel that I was an important part of his life. He had the ability to make everyone that he knew feel special.

Dear Joe and Leslie, Joe, I am an old friend of yours -- Carole Walters - and I came across Leslie's FACEBOOK quite by accident and learned that you lost your beloved son Barrett last year. I just want to say how very sorry I am. We lost our beloved son Keith over 25 years ago when he was 21 years old, so I KNOW the grief and suffering you are going through. I can only tell you that as the years go by the suffering does get less; and most importantly, you will see the Lord use the loss of your son in many different ways in your lives -- I know that sounds impossible at this point of your loss, but it is true. The most important thing of all is to KNOW that Barrett is with the Lord and you WILL see him again. I also lost my husband Johnny last year after a long illness. His passing was a blessing as he had suffered for many years. I'm so happy that he's now with the Lord and no longer in pain. Maybe one day we can get together as I live in Ormond Beach -- just south of Port Orange where your daughter lives, if my information is correct. God bless you both, Carole Edwards

I am so sad to hear the news of Barrett's passing. I have so many fond memories of him in my class at Sol Feinstone. He had an infectious smile and made me smile so much with his wonderful sense of humor! I am sure he is smiling down on all of us now. Love, Darlyne

I saw the notice of Barrett's passing on the Prep website. My son graduated in '97. Leslie, I remember your passion for Second Hand Joe's and the story you told of Barrett starting out in a size 14 Boy's jacket as a freshman and ending up as a senior in a 2XX. There are no words to express my sorrow for you and your family...my deepest condolences. God Bless you all.

What a beautiful tribute to Barrett this morning at the Mass at St. Isabel's. Such an outpouring of love by so many shows how much Barrett meant to so many. May that memory be a comfort to you in days to come. God bless you all.

Barrett was a great friend and part of our 'Seafood Factory' gang. I will never forget the laughter and antics that occurred daily. He was so happy to have found the love of his life and become a husband and father. Dayna and Jacqueline, I hope the days ahead bring healing memories and lots of support for you and your family.

Leslie, Joe, Devan, Dayna, and Jaqueline, There is no way to even begin to comprehend what you are all going through. The only hope is that the thoughts and prayers of others and your own faith will help you get through this horribly tragic time. Barrett was as special as his parents and sister and will be missed by all who knew him.

I am so deeply saddened by Barrett’s passing. We loved and cared for him so much. His joy, his radiant energy, his bear hugs... My heart breaks for you all, and the pain you are enduring. It is incomprehensible to me. I will pray for peace and comfort for your family and all who loved Barrett. He will forever be in my thoughts and heart.

Barrett... what a good friend! Always looking out for those he cared about, full of spunk, a hot head at times, but only because he was so passionate! Some of my memories.. Not letting me drink cherry bombs any more, because he knew how toxic they were, always asking me how my life was going, introducing me to Dayna and Jacqueline. A genuine person with a big heart. RIP my friend.

Jacqueline you will be proud of your father always. You have the same charisma as him and are therefore blessed with success and happiness. I lost my father also when I was young and it was very hard but you (unlike me) have the best mother and family that can help fill the void in your heart which extreme sadness brings

Love of wife, daughter and family. We all need to live life like Barrett~ Barrett reminds us how sweet love and life can be.
