They say that life is not about the number of breaths you take, but of the moments that take your breath away.

My Grandpa had both of that in his 86years of existence.

My Grandpa had a good life, he never lost his strength, and smart looks even as he grew old.

Grandpa: a man of principle and courage. He was always firm in what he believed, and it is from him that many of us have learned to stay strong.

Grandpa was more than just a strong figure, he was also a man of faith. I remember how we always gather in the morning and evening for prayers, and Grandpa will take headcounts to make sure everyone was there.

With my Grandpa, when you do something, you have to do it right. I am forever grateful for these life lessons.

These values have taught me to be a better man today, and my kids know the prayers as you taught us and some of the old hymns like you repeatedly sang them every day. There are so many other things I remember ,like the way he hums the hymns before we start, and that brings tears and smiles to my face.

As his first grandchild, I enjoyed being round him and I wish my kids had the opportunity of meeting him and enjoying same.

Grandpa, I will always remember you. Rest in paradise till we meet to part no more.

A good father you were.
You always made it a point of duty for us to be at the family altar daily, to pray and be taught the Word of GOD.
Thank you for being the head of a peaceful home.

See you on the resurrection morning.

This is a tribute to fine gentleman, an honourable and a God-fearing man.
A tribute to my dad, Dr S.U. Osemota.

The bible says that children, are a gift to parents,
I would add that good parents are a gift to a child.
My dad was a good parent and was God's gift to me, my siblings and to many others who saw his as a father.

I dare say that my relationship with my dad, was a very special one. As his first child, I could do no wrong, those who have tried to come between us will know what I mean.

Dad was loving, kind, compassionate and he loved the Lord.
So growing up, our home was a never ending haven for people staying or visiting, or passing through and praying for us. It was a delightful place of balance and spiritual awakening.

Since daddy loved God and loved the church, we by extension, loved God and loved the church.
I remember how at 8 years old, I was one of the youngest members of the Adult choir of the St. Paul's Anglican church.
Dad would take me to church services, to choir practices and to many other church activities that I was involved in.
All these, no doubt helped nurture my Christian faith.

Daddy loved to learn, and he read widely.
He had all sorts of books in his library.
From a very tender age, I would read his books on religion and spirituality, psychology, mathematics, logic, technology and of course, story books for my age group. I have no doubt too, that this shaped my mind and my curiosity to learn more.

Thanks to daddy, I got into one of the best secondary schools at the time and even when he left Nigeria to study for his Masters in the United States, he still dutifully ensured the continued health and well being of his children he left behind.
I remember how dad, knowing that I loved Chemistry and Biology, would send me books on the subjects. This helped me significantly in becoming one of the top students in my class.
It was therefore, no surprise that years later, after working in a particular field of profession, I would return to the university for a second degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical science and obtain a first class degree. This was all thanks to a foundation of a good start and a dedicated father. Thankfully, dad was aware of this before he died.

Dad was not a financially wealthy man in the normal sense of the word. He was a humble man and lacked nothing good.

He invested in his children, his family, and in others. He also invested in the things of God and was blessed in return.

Yes, dad was a friend of God, and God kept him, blessed him, protected him till it was time for his home coming.

Dad fought the good fight of faith and has finished his race and leaves behind a solid legacy of his good name, the love of God, a faith in Christ Jesus, high moral values, education, and last but not the least, gardening.
Yes, daddy loved to be close to nature, he loved the outdoors and loved gardening.

The mammoth void that daddy leaves behind shall be filled with pleasant memories of everything he stood for.

Adieu Daddy, rest well, till we meet again.
Love you always.
Your daughter, OFURE

You are the true son of IYAWO my precious grandmother of blessed momery. You were never afraid to say the truth with love no matter the situation just as my grandmother.

TRIBUTE TO A RARE GEM – DR. S. U. OSEMOTA

Dr. S. U. Osemota is a man whose memory cannot easily be erased from our minds. He was a great man of vision, a father, teacher, educator, mentor, role model and a very senior colleague. He was one of the founding fathers and builder of the then Department of Office Management and Mass Communication which today is now two great Departments (i.e Department of Office Technology and Management and Department of Mass Communication) in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, where he, at that time functioned as Head of Department for several years.
He initiated the Open Grading Tests Examinations which created the avenue and assisted Secretaries in public and private sector employment to get promotions in their places of work throughout Nigeria. One of his greatest contributions to the Department was his pioneering Part-time Secretarial Studies programme in 1988 which has today metamorphosed into the School of Evening Studies in Auchi Polytechnic with so many programmes run in many disciplines.
Dr. Osemota was a leader per excellence. He was a fearless worker who primarily had the fear of God Almighty uppermost in his heart. His administrative style is worthy of emulation. He never accepted lies and gossips from anyone. He was always straight to the point and when one reports a colleague to him, he would not let the person go until he invites the colleague and ask the accuser to repeat oneself in the colleague’s presence.
During his period at Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, and under his leadership, Dr. Osemota ensured the successful training of a generation of Office Practitioners who even today are contributing effectively towards the development of Nigeria in several organizations scattered throughout the country. Indeed, many of the students he trained have held Management positions in many tertiary educational institutions and other organizations.
Daddy, as we fondly called him was a goal-getter and he wrote his name in gold in the Department of Office Management in particular and Auchi Polytechnic as a whole.
We miss you, Daddy. Rest in peace our mentor.

Daddy, you were more than a "God father" in baptism to me. You played the role of a loving father not only to me but also to my children. You contributed in no small way in ensuring that my children were able to access sound tertiary education. You opened the way!

The last time I visited you before home call you asked me: "How are my children?" That showed how caring a father you were. As I look back to the last 46 years of a father/daughter relationship, I can truly say you were indeed my God father for which I am eternally grateful to God for.

Sleep on daddy in the bosom of God till we meet to part no more.

A TRIBUTE TO A LOVED AND LOVING BROTHER

My three-in-one is no more!

Was there anyone like you were?

I called you FATHER because you were there for me as one

I called you MOTHER because you did for me what a mother would do for her
baby.

I called you BROTHER because you were one in a million.

From age ten till yesterday, you were my Guardian Angel playing all these three roles in my life.

How can I ever forget you, so loving, so caring.

As a child in your care, you knew almost every challenge I was encountering and with the way you tackled them I knew you understood my feelings.

You were a brother who gave me his shoulders to lean on.

May God Bless Your Soul!

We, your siblings loved you and we knew you loved us like Nene loved us all and those who came your way.

Brother, even if you were two hundred years old, I would have still held on to the string of life, if it were possible, and would not have let you leave us. But we must pay this debt anytime and that you have done after a meritorious life here on earth.

Sleep on my cherished bother till we meet in eternity where the angels will
continue to entertain you forever.

Your Sister,
Mrs. Rachael Ali

Dear Daddy,
We remember your sermons at All Saints Anglican Church Auchi, particularly the one you titled "Who shall ascend into the hills" with your text from Psalm 24:3. You sure made a positive impact in our lives as young children and we are forever grateful to God for your life. You had such a peaceful and calm disposition. We will miss stopping by once in a while at Ekpoma on our way to Auchi but surely anytime we travel on that route, we will remember you with love as always.
Rest on Daddy for you had clean hands and a pure heart. You did not lift up your soul unto vanity nor swore deceitfully. Psalm 24:4 surely you have ascended into the hill of the Lord & you now stand in His holy place Psalm 24:3.
"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on: Yes says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours" Rev 14:13
Adieu Daddy!

Dr. Osemota’s exemplary life shine light on his family, friends, acquaintances and future generations. The remarkable impact he had on his children is readily visible through the children’s discipline, respect for all, strive for excellence, and success. He passed same attributes/gesture to the students that went through him to attain high goals in all spheres of human endeavors. Edo Association of Florida (EAF) lamented his passing with his wife and children. He will be greatly missed, may God grant those he left behind the courage and fortitude to bear the loss IJMN.

Fate and chance made our path crossed in 1978 .Dr Osemota was a very strong willed man who would never see evil and call it good.
Our paths crossed in 1978 at the Auchi Polytechnic where I was the Benin City Liaison Officer and he had just returned back from overseas and was in charge of the OGT Examination
.OGT was an opening grading testing program which brought his impressive leadership traits to his world . His dynamic ability created functionality in various departments .Our relationship blossomed when I was appointed as a coordinator for the examination center at the Imaguaro Teachers Training College on Sapele Road.
He was a hardworking astute man with impeccable excellent service delivery skills. He was an outstanding officer and an investor in the future of thousands of students whom he so greatly impacted and improved their lives . He was a positive role model and influencer.
He will be remembered by so many students who were under his tutelage as a lecturer.
Dr Osemota loved his family so much and walked the extra mile without complaining. I remember the school visits to his kids while they were schooling. He was a prisoner of integrity and fairness.
Dr Osemota has fought the good fight and received his trophy with rewards for a life so well lived.
Please accept my condolences on the transition of dear
big brother .He is forever in our hearts. May God comfort his dear wife and the entire clan he left behind. He was very dear to our family .

TRIBUTE TO A DADDY WITH AN EXCELLENT SPIRIT

A Saint has gone to meet his maker. Psalm116 : 15 says Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints.

I wish mortal men who served and made great impact in the lives of others like Daddy would never have died so that we can continue to admire and tap from their experience.

Daddy, you were so good, kind, loving, cheerful, generous, truthful, honest, a man of integrity and worthy of emulation.

For me putting pen on paper cannot adequately express your love and care. You were a father to me indeed and also to many others both young and old who grew and lived in Ebute also known as Okede, a riverine community. If not for Daddy I would still have remained an applicant till today. Even the role you played in my marriage life is tremendous, amazing and unforgettable.

The testimonies in the lips of many of your numerous achievement at Auchi Polytechnic as head of department and member of Academic Board to mention just a few speak volumes.

You have in your stay at Auchi Polytechnic produced great men and women and gave admission and employment to many people too numerous to mention.

As a Christian, your role as people's warder of All Saints Ang. Church, now Cathedral, for many years which came from pure and sincere heart with great commitment will forever remain indelible in the heart of many members and worshippers.

Although you are no longer with us physically you will forever be remembered for your goodness, for many people you put food on their table.

Good people must die but death cannot kill their good names. You are worthy soldier of Christ. You came, you saw and conquered.

Continue to rest in the bosom of our lord Jesus Christ until we meet to part no more.

Dr. S. U. Osemota lived a very simple, peaceful and exemplary life that made him unique in his approach to issues of life. He had deep faith in God and I never saw him ruffled even in the face of challenges. He was a man of prayer.
His leadership skill was outstanding. As the head of department of Secretariat Studies (now Office Technology and Management), he was disciplined, transparent and very hard working. He worked with deep passion, commitment and the fear of God.
His dealings with people was characterized by his firmness; truthful and honest lifestyle.
As a daughter to the family, I didn't know Daddy from a distance but also in the home front.
I have fond memories of him both in the Polytechnic Staff Quarters and the country home residence at Ekpoma. Daddy had a listening ear and was always interested in my personal progress.
He would counsel me to be focused and work harder.
Daddy, you have joined the triumphant saints, God's generals, sleep on in the bossom of the Lord you served with great dedication and love.

TRIBUTE TO A MAN OF HONOUR
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and before honour is humility” Prov. 15:33. “He has shown thee oh man what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God” Micah 6:8.These are just few of the numerous words of encomiums that we use to depict the lifestyle of Late Dr. S.U. Osemota, the Odionwere of Isibhelua who spent a larger part of his life to display love, justice, mercy and humility. Hence the entire family of Rt. Rev’d. and Mrs. Jolly Ehigiator Oyekpen accord him this great honour he so much deserves from all and sundry. Aside his immediate family Dr. S.U. Osemota’s lifestyle of magnanimity, love and concern have impacted positively into the lives of many that came in contact with him. He was inspirational in all his ways, a fountain of unity, a father, friend and confidant to all.We will miss his physical presence but his good legacies of devotedness, commitment and diligence in all he did will linger long in our minds. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss and may his gentle soul rest in peace at the bosom of the Lord. Rt. Revd Jolly E. Oyekpen

An Inconic Academician
My Lecturer/Head of Department was a committed hard worker, despite his numerous engagements. He was always punctual to lectures, a strict adherence to standards in all respects. He was a faithful believer in Jesus, and organized the then "Good News Fellowship" in the Polytechnic Staff Quarters Auchi in the 1980s. Even when he retired, he still personally went to work in his farm. He lived a life busy in fruitful worship till he was called home. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

Indeed death is a comma not a period.”
I thought we would again get to see daddy but time and fate would not grant us that wish.
I remember daddy as a young child and then much later in the mid 80s at Auchi Polytechnic. I remember your unassuming humble nature. I make bold to say that some people succeed because they are destined to but most people succeed because they are determined to. Daddy your determination to succeed has propelled your children ,students and many more to succeed because you were an investor in your world . Goodnight sir .

‘Doc’, as I usually call Dr. S.U Osemota, has been my long-time friend dating back to 1966 when we both functioned as WAEC Examiners in Typewriting. We again became colleagues on the Teaching staff of the Department of Office Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.
Dr. Osemota is a thorough-bred Academic whose resilience for hard work is hard to beat. He is strict, and religiously honest to the annoyance of his detractors.
He has lived long and well and it is my prayer that God will grant him a peaceful repose in paradise. Ogbuenyi C.J.C. Onyekwe.

An icon has gone to the Lord. We thank God for the life of Dr. S.U. Osemota, an upright man, an academic guru, a highly-principled administrator and a firm believer in ethics. He taught me most of the things I knew about Office Administration and Open Grading Tests. He never bowed to pressure to compromise the truth. He worked tirelessly at Auchi Polytechnic to enhance program effectiveness and staff progress. He lived a good christian life. Adieu, Dr. Osemota.

Dear Daddy,

I thank God for letting us have you this long on earth with us, adorning us with countless blessings along the way. You overcame adversity in childhood, losing your own father early and achieved great heights for your siblings, yourself and the next generation. Not only did you literally personify the meaning of “Osemota”(this one will live till evening), by getting to the ripe old age of 88, you shone brightly as a pioneer everywhere you went (the UK, the US, Nigeria). You set the precedent for the high standards expected of anyone in the Osemota clan and dynasty. Osemotas are synonymous with pacesetters because of you. You instilled in us good morals and values that I held on to while alone in Russia and will forever hold on to till the end. I have always been, still am and forever will be proud to call you MY FATHER.

As I said earlier, I am grateful to God for giving you a long, healthy, prosperous, fruitful and happy life. But it’s always hard to say goodbye till we meet again in heaven.

ABA ME !!! MY HERO !!! MY DADDY !!!

I will miss you so much till then. Continue to rest in peace, power and paradise, in the bosom of the Lord. I love you always.

Your son,

Usifo.
