His Life
March 29, 2017

When I die
Give what's left of me away to children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.

Look for me
In the people I've known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live in your eyes
And not on your mind.

You can love me most
By letting hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.

Love doesn't die,
People do.
So, when all that's left of me is love,

Give me away.

Musical Scholarship in Dan Mullaney's Name

Dan Mullaney died on March 10, 2017 at the age of 27 following a tragic worksite incident that resulted in massive brain injuries. He fought valiantly for over 36 hours after two brain surgeries to save his life but in the end the injuries were too severe to overcome.

Dan was a kind, intelligent and exceptionally talented young man whose life was tragically cut short. He played multiple musical instruments including saxophone, piano, drums, and guitar. Jazz, heavy metal, folk, alt rock or R&B – it didn't matter the genre, he was passionate about nearly every type of music.

Dan volunteered as an organ donor and his loving family takes comfort that the very lucky recipients who will benefit from his great big heart, his strong runner’s lungs, and young healthy organs will carry on the spirit and the kindness Dan exhibited in his daily life.

Dan's family is setting up this Go Fund Me campaign with an initial goal of raising $25,000 to be used solely and exclusively to establish music scholarships in Dan's name so his memory will live on forever.  No gift is too small and all will be greatly appreciated by future music students.  This will enable others to benefit from music that was Dan’s passion and brought him so much joy.

Dan's life story is written in the memories, stories, songs and photos left on this website which reflect the love his friends and family had for him, and the way he touched their lives and hearts.

He did manage to make one last incredible gift.  He had registered himself as an organ donor, and 4 people in New England were given the gift of life by receiving his heart, liver and kidneys.  The recipient of one of his kidneys was a 4 year old.
