Daniel D. Raub was born at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City,
New York on 23 October 1973 at 7:10 am. 49 years later, he died in that very
same hospital from massive heart failure at 6:30 am. Dan loved irony, so for
him, this timing is fitting. When he passed, he was surrounded by his children,
Kai Raub, Victoria Mallon, and Kaylee Raub. His mother Rebecca Oney, his sister
Jennifer Raub-Scott, and one of his truest friends and ally, Heather Raub were
also by his side as well as his love Hollie. On that morning, Dan joined in
heaven his dad Sanford Oney, his little brother Sandy Oney, his grandparents
Joyce and Wayne Jordan, his cousin Billy Finch, and his father-in law Ray
Hettle. Needless to say, he was encircled by love when he left this world and
welcomed with love when he returned to the other side. There are so many people
who loved Dan with all their hearts and he very much felt the same. His son-in
law Freddie Mallon and his precious granddaughter Felicity were a source of
great happiness to him. Dan’s nephews, Wayne, Ben, Gavin, and Alex thought he
was the coolest Uncle. Marcia and John Shumsky were his forever in-laws. He
fell madly in love with his twin flame, Hollie Beckett in this past year. His
best friends Greg and Shannon Beckett were a central part of his life along
with his Bronie, Deanna Mallery (Sara), his oldest friends Kim and Mike Monroe,
and the amazing people he worked with at Innovation Associates. His dog
Shantotto was his cutest-best bud given her cuteness combine with just enough
naughty. And there are so many more friends and family that were important in Dan's life.
Dan was a multi-dimensional human
being. Summarizing him will do him no justice but there are a few terms that point
to some of his more prolific qualities: darkly & lightly humored; sensitive
without gush; the artist and the aficionado; entirely pure of heart; a ladies man without the machismo; snored
louder than a wilda-beast; the introvert who would leap to your rescue or say
the words you really needed to hear; and finally a man far too humble to
realize what a wonderful father he was for his children. If you didn’t know him
and get to appreciate him, you missed out.
