ForeverMissed

Daniel Galvin Roche, 88, of Mullica Hill, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2018, after a brief illness.  He joins Emma, his high school sweetheart and wife of 68 years, who passed away in January.

Daniel, “Mutt”, was born on December 29, 1929 in Gibbstown, the eldest son of Stephen and Mildred Roche.  He was a hard worker, who hardly ever missed a day of work. His priority was always supporting his wife and family of nine children. Dan began his career as a pipefitter out of Local 80 in Delaware.  He moved on to be an estimator and retired in construction management.  Dan’s sense of humor, humility, and faith in God helped him to navigate the difficulties of life.  He had a quick wit and a calm demeanor, always ready to lighten up any situation with a smile, a smart quip and the love in his Irish blue eyes.

Besides his wife, Daniel was preceded in death by his son, Stephen and his daughters Jeanne and Maureen.  He is survived by his sister, Sally, in Florida, his six other children, Diane, Duane (Sheryl), Teresa (Ted Quirk), Mary, Daniel Jr. (Patti), and Kristin (Ed Dirago), as well as 25 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to thank Vitas Hospice Care for their assistance in Dad’s final days.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Daniel Roche at 10:00 on Friday, August 17 at the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit Parish Center, 17 Earlington Ave.,  Mullica Hill,  NJ 08062.  Friends and family may call at the church beginning at 9:00 am.  The Rite of Committal will be offered at Eglington Cemetery, 320 King’s Hwy, Clarksboro, NJ 08020 following the Mass.

Uncle Dan, You live on in my memory as does Aunt Emma. We visited my Dad’s grave on Dec 27, his 101st birthday. The grief and loss never ends. My parents were such a gift as you were. I remember you often sending one of your kids to the store to buy a gift for Aunt Emma. Thanks for your great friendship to my parents and to us. The family is so different now. Enjoy your well deserved mansion. Loretta

Hi Uncle Dan and Aunt Emma, Christmas has a way of bringing us all back together, the family here and the family departed. The memories live on and some more than others, like you and my parents, give us peace knowing what a life well lived means. Mary Roche asked me, “How do we go on without them?” We must! My Dad would have been 100 on December 27. We celebrate both of you and all the departed DiDonato family whose memories rush forward in my mind at Christmas. See you, ❤️ Loretta

I will always remember Uncle Mutt as a man’s man. I used to tell him he looked like my dad. And he would reply, “Yeah but I’m better looking.” RIP

We are so sorry for your loss!! My grandpop talked about his good friend Mutt often and we were always so intrigued by the stories as kids. He’s with all the great ones now and like Loretta said we still have a few laughs left! Sending healing prayers and love.
