His Life
Daniel Glendon Peoples (Bennett) of San Diego passed away quietly at Balboa Naval Medical Center on August 6th of heart failure. 

Daniel was born in Ionia, Michigan in July 1945 and adopted by Eric and Leona Peoples.  He was raised in Ionia, and graduated from Ionia High School in 1964.  In February of 1965, he married his high school sweetheart Jeanne Wilcox

At the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Navy and began training as an Aquatic Electrician in the diesel submarine service.  Together Daniel and Jeanne travelled the country from post to post.  Daniel spent a great deal of time away at sea and participated in The Vietnam Conflict in the early 1970s.   Daniel and Jeanne lived in many places including Mississippi, Florida, Wisconsin, Maryland, Hawaii, but most importantly, San Diego where they bought their home in 1968.  They settled in San Diego just prior to Daniel's retirement from the service in 1984, after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer: Electrician's Mate.

While working in the private sector. he attended Coleman College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Computer Technology.  He also volunteered with the San Diego Computer Society installing computers in rural classrooms for the County of San Diego.   

Daniel is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne, daughters Tammy and Melissa as well as four grandsons, Donovan, Jordan, Brandon and Dylan.  The family wishes to acknowledge his brothers and sisters in the Edson/Williams/Bennett side of his family:  Robert Bennett, Robert Williams, John, Marguerite, Silas, Sherry, Gloria, Madeline, George Bennett and Jerry Shook as well.  Thank you for all of your love, acceptance, prayers and support. 

He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and the laughter he brought to us all.  It is nearly impossible to think of Daniel without thinking how he made us laugh, even when we didn't want to.  You'll be missed ya "old salty dog".
