I've known Darryl since I was 6 years old. He's always been around. It's still odd to know that he's no longer with us. I felt safer wroth Darryl in the neighborhood. He was always so reliable. He was there before you knew you needed him. I van recall two times that he was there for me before I even realized I needed him! A few times that he noticed something was wrong on my car before I did and he would just fix it, once I believe he hast came and told me, hey this was wrong and he had already fixed it. He made our neighborhood safe on several levels. Darryl was the type of grandpa that every child deserves.
Not seeing him sit in front of the house everyday is going to be weird but I'm ALWAYS going to see him sitting there on the tree box, no matter what. Wearing jeans, no shirt and smoking a cig waving hello. To me, that is where he will forever be.
