Dave Pociask passed away at age 67 unexpectedly on September 26th, 2020.

Dave was born in Cudahy, WI in 1953 to Joe and Regina Pociask. He attended Cudahy High and was a projectionist at the Avalon and Majestic Theaters. He developed a lifelong addiction to popcorn and memorized lines from classic movies. He met his future wife there when she came to see Gone with the Wind (which he also liked to recite). He made fun of her Corvair for being Unsafe at Any Speed; somehow she found this charming.

He loved both cars and the environment, so he got his associate’s degree in Environmental Science and worked at Delphi Automotive (General Motors) for over 30 years, making many friends, and innovating ways to reduce emissions. In his off time, he took long walks with his wife, and enjoyed weekends at the lake, either fishing or searching for beach glass. He spent a lot of time playing his guitar, especially blues and 70s rock. Harvest Moon was the most recent song he was mastering on the guitar. 

We will remember him as a big-hearted, funny, and thoughtful man who delighted in telling stories and scouting for gifts. He always came bearing useful tools, homemade chocolate chip cookies, or a good thick sweatshirt. Everyone he crossed paths with was a candidate for his generosity, including animals. The neighborhood dogs knew him for his treats, and for this same reason, the dogs in the family stuck to him like velcro. He also made sure that the birds, squirrels, and foxes who lived in or frequented the yard were also kept fed. 

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Dawn (neé Hogquist). His son Dan (Ashley) and daughter Kate (Nick) will remember him for being playful and laid back. Grandchildren Dylan, Collin, and Ella loved him for his breakfast-making abilities. His conversation will be deeply missed by older brothers Joe (Dee), Tom (Christine), and Dennis (Patsy).

The family asks that you share memories, photos, and videos for now. The Celebration of Life will be delayed until we can gather more safely.
