David Curtis Rhew, of Kirkwood, MO, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2017, three days before his 94th birthday after a brief stay at Manor Grove. He was the beloved son of William and Ora Rhew (nee Childers); husband of the late Arie Marie Rhew (nee Stephens); dear father of Michael (Marilyn) of Owosso, MI and Daniel Rhew of Kirkwood, MO; grandfather of Alison Gray (Michael), Jennifer Fischer (Matthew), Benjamin Rhew, Sarah Cook (Nate), and Galena Ostipow (Tim); great-grandfather of Caleb Fischer, Sabrina Smith, Faith Hamill, Noah Fischer, Cameron Lindsey, Braden Lindsey, Jonathan “JD” Lindsey, Morgan Cook, and Lilian Gray; great-great grandfather of Matthew Hamill; brother of Betty Snodgrass and the late William, Raymond, and Claud; uncle to many, cousin and friend to many more.

David lived a productive life accomplishing many things. He was a US Navy Veteran who served bravely in WWII, surviving a torpedoed shipped. He worked for Chrysler in Fenton, MO for many years before retiring in the mid 1980's. David was a member of Geyer Road Baptist Church in Kirkwood, MO and performed in the choir. He enjoyed music very much. Besides gospel songs, Boxcar Willie was among his favorite musicians. David enjoyed playing the guitar, mandolin and harmonica. He stayed physically active for a long time into his retirement years by swimming and taking walks. He will be fondly remembered and missed by many.
