Daddy's legacy

August 3, 2012

Anyone can be a father.  It takes a great man to be a daddy!  That's my daddy.  He taught me to be honest, to take a stand for what's right, to have compassion for people in need, to love the piano...to be his friend.  Sometimes our daily talks would be more like friends than daddy and daughter.  We laughed and cried together.  One of my greatest blessings he gave me was to, out of the blue, call me up and tell me how proud he was of me.  I had not done anything in particular, just been me.  He loves me.  That's a great memory!  Daddy has been my best friend, my advisor, my cheerleader...my daddy.  I love him and miss him every moment of every day.  Wish I could still just pick up the phone and hear him say, "Hey, darling!"  Miss hearing him play the piano and sing in that voice that only his children can love!  Miss having his strength to help me deal with life's struggles.  I cannot wait to see him again!  I know, within the deepest part of my being, that when I pass from this life to Heaven's gate, daddy will be the first one to greet me.  He will look at me with those beautiful hazel eyes and that beautiful loving smile of his and welcome me home.  What a day that will be!  Until that day, I pray that I will continue to live a life that makes my daddy proud of me.
