A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, David G. Lamborne II, 75, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away on August 13, 2018. He was born June 26, 1943 in Kokomo, Indiana, but moved frequently in his youth as the son of a Navy officer, the late David G. Lamborne, and his wife Dorothy Colyar Lamborne.

He had a love of baseball, which included a brief run in the Minor League. Dave was highly educated and dedicated his career to education, serving mostly as a school administrator in many school systems covering all grade levels, ultimately retiring from West Cape May School District. Upon retirement, he fulfilled his dream of owning a boat large enough to travel up and down the East Coast. Dave was always able to find the positive side of life and enjoyed making memories with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Sandra Lamborne; daughters Renee Doyle and husband Steve, Nicole Lamborne Salvati and husband Harry, and Danielle Almquist; son Trae Lamborne and wife Donna; stepdaughter Andrea Branco and husband Dann; stepson Carmen Delessio and wife Kerry; and 15 grandchildren, Gabriella, Alyssa, Michaela, Drew, Grace, Nicholas, Cara, Jack, Cecelia, Greta, Aurora, Danny, Nora, Dante, and Will.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10:00 until 11:15 am at St. Clare of Assisi in Swedesboro, NJ. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30. Interment private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association at www.strokeassociation.org

I'm student teaching at a school in Auburn, NY which ends their morning announcements with, "Make it a great day, or not, the choice...is yours." I immediately thought, "Where is Mr. Lamborne now?"

Mr. Lamborne was my principal at Greenwood Lake Middle School in the late 90's-early 2000's. Him, and his words, always stuck with me and my friends as a positive motivation and source of strength. I'm saddened to find he has passed, though consoled knowing he retired and lived his dream of getting a boat and spending time with his family.

Mr. Lamborne was my Principal at Highland Middle School from about 2000-2002. Every now and then I think of him and his catch phrase, “Make it a great day…. or not! The choice is yours” and wonder what he’s up to. He made a lasting impression on me as a pillar of calm, kind confidence in the otherwise chaotic world of Middle School life. I always appreciated his approach to leading our school, and hoped one day to thank him for it. I’m sorry to find now that I’m a few years too late, but I hope his family will find this message and know that his influence lives on in the hearts and minds of the students he worked with.

We will always remember David's calm demeanor and witty sense of humor. David was always able to find the good in people. He was always a joy to be around and I'm sad to say we didn't have the opportunity to spend more time together. He was a good father and loving grandfather. He will be forever missed.

Everyone who knew Dave liked him. He was such an easy-going friendly likable person and a true gentleman. My heart goes out to Sandi and all of Dave's family. Hold on to the memories of all those happy times and fun vacations with Dave and the families...he will be missed......Carol and Bill.

My sincere condolences to the Lamborne family. Dave was one of kind, and I have so many great memories. Sandi, I know your heart is broken, and I wish somehow I could make it better. Dave officiated our wedding just four years ago. What a legacy of children and grandchildren he leaves behind to carry on. God Bless you all, and may Dave forever be remembered with smiles and laughter through the tears.

So sorry for you loss. May God watch down upon you and your family. RIP Dave. My brother in law was also from Kokomo. They are about the same age. God Bless.
