David Lunifeld (1929) – passed very peacefully on January 7, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones holding his hands, at the Concordia of Fox Chapel, supported by hospice services.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Patchan Lunifeld , son Robert (Ann-Marie), son Thomas (Mina), daughter Amy Goring (Mark); grandchildren Max, Isabella, Rowen, and Finn; sister Beth Lewit,  sister-in law Barbara Patchan.

Dave grew up in NYC, was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He is a retiree of Gulf Research and Development Co, EG&G (Morgantown Energy Center) and other engineering companies.  He was a part-time instructor at Penn State New Kensington Campus for over 20 years.  Dave was active in ISA and SAE, and always enjoyed playing golf, chess, ping pong, gin rummy and poker, acrylic painting, dancing with his wife, tinkering on every car and appliance, and making people laugh.

Friends received Tuesday January 13, 2-4 and 6-8 PM at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills PA.

Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 14 at 10:30am at St Bernadette’s Church in Monroeville PA. Internment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in David’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, or to a charity of one’s choice.
