His Life

  Regrettably on the evening of Thursday, February 27th, 2014 at 8:27 PM David Marion Grove died.

  He lived the 87 yrs of his life from April 23rd, 1926 unto February 27th, 2014.

   Born the second son and the third of four siblings, Warren Grove, Christine Bachman, himself, and Jeannie Douglass to his father, Cullace, "Charlie," C. Grove and mother, Laura Ellen Cook in Blackwell, Oklahoma he is survived by the last of those, his younger sister, Jeannie Douglass, and his four children, Stephen E. Grove, Linda Ellen Cook, Becky Ruth Montgomery, and Michael Perry Grove.

  Having been a member of the Seafarer's International Union in service of the U.S. Merchant Marine, a World War II and Korean War veteran he served his country in the U.S. Army until  he was honorably discharged from military service on August 30, 1951.

  He attained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Liberal Arts College, University of Tulsa, where he studied psychology and journalism.

  A practicing private investigator, owner/operator of Grove Investigations for the 55 years he worked from 1959 until he died, he held licenses in the states of Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.

  Having entered the legal publishing field in 1991 he edited and published legal trade journals including the New Mexico Verdict and the Texas Law Reporter with intent to improve the practice of law.  He authored a text book employed in the courses of continuing education for both attorneys and private investigators alike, and taught accredited courses on the subject as well.

  A personable man, as evidenced by the numbers of his many friends, he enjoyed playing guitar, shooting pool, playing Texas Hold’em, and cooking special dishes for his family and friends.

  He  was a generous, kind, and fun loving man, possessing a unique sense of humor, unparalleled honor and integrity.  He will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 21st at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Houston Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive located just south of the N Sam Houston Parkway on the east side of Veterans Memorial Dr. Your attendance will be welcomed.
