David introduced me to interesting concepts like reflexive learning, contract free coaching & was a fund of amusing & serious stories about coaching and life in general. He was a joy to know, generous & gentle, using himself this stories- like overcoming his stutter- for others in a truly Christian way. Bless

A life lesson, always remembered

It must be about thirty years ago that I first met David. We were both speaking at the same conference and we were waiting to 'go on' behind the curtain. I was unspeakably nervous. I knew that David was already an experienced and much loved speaker. I asked him if he got nervous. To my amazement, he said he always did. 'But how do you cope?' I asked. He thought for a second or two and then said, with humility rather than arrogance : 'You just have to believe that you have something important to say.'

Every time after that, whenever I have to speak publicly, I have heard his words in my mind, and they have enabled me to go on despite my nerves and speak. He was kind, and generous, and wise.

Safe travels David

My deepest and heartfelt wishes for comfort and solace for David's wife and all.his family. David was coach, mentor and teacher. Generous with co-  workers and happy in his students achievements and quick to promote them.this alone sets him aside from  so many of his generation of academic coaches . He worked hard to live coherently with his values and beliefs.  He has left a strong foundation to build upon for the emerging generations.
Warm wishes and loving thoughts to his wife and family whose sorrow is vast.
