A Class Act...

March 4, 2012

I remember David, Connie and Amy in a convertible in “68”…it was a sunny day and the top was down and they were all having a great time…as the years passed I have to say that my memories of David remained the same…he was always smiling.  I developed a tremendous respect for this man for all that he experienced and how he made a difference in the lives of anyone he came in contact with…I also remember long phone calls we shared because when Connie called to catch up on life she and David were both parts of the conversations and we always seemed to find minor things to laugh about until our sides hurt…so I always will remember the sound of his laughter over the phone as we went through the years.

It was David that told me the prognosis of his disease and as the months passed I was amazed at the way he and Connie accepted the hand they had been dealt.  I remember the last visit with them as we gathered around him in their bedroom…he was weak but we laughed just the same as we always did…and I remember the day of his funeral at the cemetery when the “suits” carried him to his resting place…his peers honoring him for the last time in the best way they had available to them…what a class act he was…

Thanks David for accepting me as a friend…
