February 20, 2013

Dave was born in Shawnee, Okla. to Willie {Bill} Dirr & Marie White Dirr on Dec. 30,1946. At the age of 2 his mother married Cass Perkins and the family moved to Friona,Tx. He went from high school into the Army which he spent 2 years. In 1969 he met and married Penny Kay Jackson of Hereford,Tx. They had 3 daughters. Carol Jannette, Candace Marie, & Cynthia Renae. In 1973 he moved his family to Covington, La. In April 1976 he and Penny Kay divorced. However, they stayed friends. Dave spent all holidays at Kay's home with their children and later their grandchildren. Dave worked for Napa of Covington,La. for over 30 years. The last few years he worked with and trained his grandson Trey to take over the shop when he could no longer work. Dave was still working there 2 weeks before he passed away. His mother Marie Perkins and sister  Daria Brackens are still living in Friona, Texas. At the time of his death he had 16 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. We will all miss you so much. But Dave, our children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren will live on with the love you have left them all.  Kay                                                                                                                                                                                                                               We had your service today. You had so very many friends there to tell you good bye. I would say about 50 to 75 people. Everyone in the family was there. I know you were looking down from Heaven at all of us with a smile. How nice it must be for you now with all our loved ones with you there in HEAVEN. You are the lucky one. We will miss you so much. Our life will always be empty without you in it. I want to thank our girls for letting me have such a big part in all this. It has been an honor. Thank you for asking for me so we could have our talks the last few weeks. I will always miss you but some day I'll see you again, my love. Good Bye Dave.  Yours, K
