His Life

My Little Man

July 1, 2014

I will never forget the Love when I found out I was pregnant with our son. I had always wanted to be a mother and this was it. I had a great pregnancy at the end of it My Little Man decided he was going to show me how big he really was and would lodge a foot under my rib cage. Him and I would have shoving contests to regain the space under my ribs. He usually won. When his dads birthday came around I came home and made his dad a birthday dinner of enchilada's. I was relaxing in our recliner chair and decided to get up I went in our bedroom and wouldn't you know it my water broke. His dad was still in town so I called him and let him know what was going on. He had me call the neighbors and they drove me to town where Big Dave met us at the hospital. I tried with all my might to have him on his dad's birthday but to no avail My Little Man insisted on having his own birhtday. From that day on that is exactly how he was. he wanted everything of his own. He loved it when mommy or daddy would read to him especially using strange voices. his favoirte was 10 Little Monkeys. I will never forget the day he ran up to me and said "Kristi Come See This". I couldn't believe he had called me by my first name although I knew that was something he was learning at school. Needless to say I was still dumb founded. One thing about My Little Man is he never failed to suprise me.. He was always learning something new and loved to show mommy and daddy whatever it was that he had learned. I will also never forget the time I went into the kitchen and left my Little Man in the living room with his sister. I heard her whining and turned to look and there was My Little Man sitting on his sisters legs. When I asked him why he did it he said " She was kicking me". It was extremely hard to disipline him with out smiling. Like I said before he never ceased to amaze me. Thanks to everyone who ever was a part of his life. Just know he is in Heaven waiting for all of us to join him.
God Bless

LITTLE DAVE

June 14, 2014

Well it all began the night of October 14th 2010.  It was my birthday and I was working on a welding job in Gillette.  I received a call from Kristi that the neighbors were bringing her to town and she was in labor with Little Dave.  I showed up at the hospital filthy from work but quickly forgot because I was so excited that he might be born on my birthday.  (I THOUGHT HOW AWESOME IS IT THAT A DAD AND HIS SON COULD HAVE SUCH A CLOSE BIRTHDAY) Thoughts and plans raced through my mind as I envisioned all of the fishing and hunting trips we would take on our birthday.  Well from the beginning he had the stubborn Collins/Miller streak in him that his parents have.  He held out from being born on my birthday by three hours.  His mom later told me that it was so that he could say that he had his own birthday, but it was awesome that him and I were born so close.

When he was finally born I thought that I truly understood what love was about.  Little did I know! I was so proud and loved him so much I cannot even begin to explain.  He was such a good baby, he would sleep through the night only waking you up to let you know that he needed something.  I remember getting ready to leave the house to work on fence, I felt so guilty about leaving him in the house because I wanted to be with him continuously.  As I was sitting down I held all of him in my left hand, still feeling guilty about having to go do chores. It wasn't long before he was sitting in the highchair eating and screaming only when his mom could not get the spoon to his mouth fast enough.  He soon had issues with sleeping all night long as he would climb out of his crib and figure out that it was a long fall to the floor.  Kristi and I had to put pillows on the floor until I finished his bed so that he would not get hurt.  After he got his new bed he quickly figured out that he could use it as a trampoline.  That was a very hard thing for him to overcome which he truly never grew out of.  Our couch still has broken springs on one end because he would try to dance to music on the couch.  (I cannot bear to get a new couch because Davey broke it in for us, and always think of him when I sit on it)

Speaking of music he loved to dance to music, anything that had a fast tempo or beat to it.  All of the songs on this page are some of the many he would dance to.  When "his music" would come on he would start jumping up and down and shaking his right hand to the beat of the music as if he was directing it and/or encouraging his dad to turn it up louder. Eric Church Creepin- was as Davey would say his "BOWW BOWW SONG"

He loved to play with blocks, trucks and his erector set.  I would work with him to build a fancy tower and spend countless time building it so that it had a good foundation only to realize that he was helping me build it so that he could destroy it like godzilla.  Sometimes him and I would start building a tower and get halfway done and he would decide that he wanted to build a "shop" instead so that he could park his dump truck, tractor or bulldozer inside like his dad does.

I still have issues with coming home because he is not here to greet me.  When I would walk in the door I would call him and he would come running around the corner so fast that he would often trip and fall, all because he was excited that his daddy was home.  He would want to help me untie my boots and pull them off, when he was done helping with my boots he would ask "daddy need help?"  When I told him that I was done working he would take off screaming "mommy, daddy is coming in, daddy home".

It wasn't long after this started that he gained a major fascination with riding on the tractor, the horses or the four-wheeler.  I have to say that his favorite was the four wheeler though.  When I would open the garage door he would always make a bee-line for the four wheeler and "hop-on" and ask if we could go for a ride.  If I told him we would do it later, he would act dissapointed and then start making his own engine sounds and playing with all of the switches and key (I cannot tell you how many times I had to recharge the battery because I new that Davey had been there and had turned the ignition on).  When him and I would ride on the four-wheeler he would always "encourage" me to go faster, he would say ( 1, 2, 3, 4, go-go-go).  Somehow he knew how to get me to do it because I didn't have the heart to tell him no.

When we would ride on the tractor, his big thing was to lay on the horn, he wore out the switch because he would hit it every few seconds.  After he would push the horn he would look around so proud as if to see who noticed that he was driving the tractor.

He loved to ride in the truck, when we would go under a bridge he would want me to roll the window down and step on the throttle so that he could hear the exhaust echo.

He was my true partner(pard) in life, he would always help me check fence and feed the horses and the Boomer dog.  He was always so concerned that I was feeding and watering them enough.  He wouldn't believe me so he had to check for himself each and every time.  I still have visions of him walking to the horse barn with me and asking what we were doing, I would tell him that we were feeding the horses, he would respond with (YEP THATS RIGHT DADDY WE FEEDING THE PONIES)

We taught him at a very early age that it was good to pray to GOD.  Little did we know that he would take it and run with it.  He would finish his prayers with a loud AMEN and then clap and say yeahhhhh.  I remember on several occassions while eating at restaurants people coming up to us and saying that they were so impressed that a boy his age was so proud to say his prayers.  They then would tell us that he had encouraged them and helped renew their faith in GOD and man.

That is the one thing that I can say for my son, in his short time he had on earth he influenced so many more people than I have and he didn't even have to try.

RIDE ON PARD - LOST BUT NEVER WILL YOU BE FORGOTTEN"

Thank you for sharing in this with me!!!
Best Regards,
Dave
