His Life

David W. Goad Sr.

August 25, 2023
David W. Goad Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was 69 years old.

Born on November 17, 1953, in New Brunswick, NJ, David was a New Jersey native. He married his wife, Linda in 1974 and they moved to Howell, NJ in 1975. In 1976, he founded Goad's Construction where his genuine care for people created many friendships in the community. David and his wife moved to Hampstead, NC in 2018.

David's family was his greatest source of pride and joy. He leaves behind his wife Linda Goad of 48 years, his son David Goad Jr. and his wife Stephanie, and his daughter Brittney Schlicker and her husband Michael who are expecting their first child. They will forever carry his values and lessons in their hearts. His late daughter Christine Goad, though departed, remains an everlasting presence in the family's memories.

The circle of love expanded to include his three grandchildren, Brennan Goad, Parker Goad, and Hadley Goad. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and his wisdom will continue to guide them as they grow.

David is also survived by his sister Diane Wildgoose.

David was preceded in death by his daughter Christine Goad, his parents Sloan and Delta Goad, and his sister Lynne Leonhardt. He leaves behind a world that was made brighter by his presence, and his memory will continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come.

David's endearing sense of humor was a hallmark of his character. His ability to tell perfectly timed jokes brought smiles to both family and strangers alike, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Many will fondly recall his entertaining renditions of oldies music, with Elvis as a personal favorite.

His faith was a cornerstone of his life and he was steadfast in his beliefs through the end. His hope for what is to come was his focus and he and his family all found comfort in that promise.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of David Goad Sr on Friday (9 am-11 am), September 1st at the DiCostanzo family-owned, Lakewood Funeral Home, 6250 Highway 9, Howell, NJ. The service will be a tribute to his memory, honoring the impact he made on the lives of many. Immediately following there will be a burial service at Maplewood Cemetery in Freehold, NJ.
