Dawn had a passion for fixing hair. She enjoyed making people feel good about their appearance. Dawn graduated from beauty school and at 19 years old opened her own hair salon in Mankato and named it Coiffure (meaning hairstyle) Beauty Salon. After marriage and starting a family, Dawn sold her hair salon and continued fixing hair in the home for the next 40+ years. Her children will always have fond memories of waking up to the wonderful smells of hair solutions along with never using her hair scissors for cutting paper! Dawn also enjoyed reading her childhood parochial school bible and was an avid knitter for many years. She enjoyed knitting beautiful afghans and shawls with many being raffled off for charity. Knitting newborn outfits was Dawn’s favorite. Dawn will be missed by many as she was a kind-hearted loving woman who loved making people feel good about themselves. Many people saw Dawn as a ‘second mom’.

Dawn’s family extends a huge thank you to everyone who cared for her at Augustana Nursing Home and Woodlyn Heights Nursing Home and a special thanks to Pastor Rita – mom enjoyed having you there for her.
