"I am not a Ham (my husband, Lynn was) so Deane and I talked of other things during our stroll through Seaside during the Ham convention. After the banquet, we would stop for ice cream cones and walk to the turn around. Lynn, Bob, and Roger would visit, while Deane & I talked about his family. He bragged about all of you -he was proud of you all- but he also worried that he had not been a good enough Dad. I think his concern shows he was, as every good parent has the same thoughts. He was a special person."

Death / Funeral Costs
Hi, Family and Friends,
Re: Death/Funeral Costs
We have all worked hard for the money we have and do not want to waste it.
When my Dad, Deane Kidd, passed away to Heaven, we had to decide between various Funeral Directors.
Much of Mom's Family is buried at Skyline Memorial Gardens. My Grandfather bought two plots when the cemetery first opened and jokingly referred to them as his "view property."
So when Dad died, we mentioned Skyline. A wise lady asked us if we were aware of the price differences. We were not. She said that for the simple body pick up at the hospital, the cremation, ashes returned to us, and a single death certificate, Skyline charges $3240. Anything more is additional. I later checked costs with Young's: $3240, and Attrell's: $2240.
Whereas, Guy Wherity in Tualatin, Oregon charged only $540! Really, only $540. Mr. Wherity was very nice, respectful, efficient, and handled everything for us. Jack and I waited at the hospital until a nice suit-clad gentleman picked up the body, and took it to Aloha for cremation. Guy Wherity took care of all of the arrangements per our requests, including paperwork, via emails, (though he offered to meet us at the hospital, our home, or his office). Guy pointed out that all American veterans are eligible for a free funeral at Willamette National Cemetery (30 minutes, with flag presentation ceremony and 21 gun salute), regardless of where we chose to bury or scatter Dad's ashes. We did not take advantage of this nice option. ASAP Guy delivered Dad's ashes to me at our home and simply but officially presented to me the lovely folded American flag. He had the Death Certificates mailed directly to us. They arrived in a few days. We feel confident that our parents would be pleased that we did not spend an additional $2700 unnecessarily. We can use that saved money for a memorial, a charity donation, or whatever we wish.
Guy said he also handles full funeral and casket arrangements as requested for Oregon and Washington families, too. He told me that he has worked in the field for many years and opened his own business as a matter of conscience.
I thought this a significant referral to respectfully pass along to you, our Family and Friends.
Sincerely,
Pam Kidd
