Deborah was a product of the West Point Public School System, where she was a member of the 1973 graduating class of West Point High School. After high school Deborah attended West Georgia technical College where she received a Diploma in Accounting. Deborah worked faithfully in the church until her passing.

She was preceded in death by parents, Henry (Jr.) and Minnie (Heard) Strickland.
