Anyone who knew Deborah, understood how much her pets meant to her. Something Bruce had no choice but to adapt to as well. When they first met, one of her cats, Toddles, jumped up onto his lap. Had that not happened, it would have probably been a ‘deal-breaker’ for her there and then. Bruce must have been approved by the pets because Deborah and Bruce were married in September 2002.
Her pets were ‘rescues’ and the All-Creatures Veterinary office staff would often joke, “If there is reincarnation, when I come back I want to be one of Deborah’s pets.”
Deborah loved her many Road Trips with Bruce, and they would take time near their wedding anniversary in the Fall to visit places around the country including Presidential Libraries and Museums, Great Lakes Lighthouses and the Shipwreck Museum on Lake Superior, The Alamo, the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Roswell, New Mexico (I Want to Believe), Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks.
Her favorite out of state place to visit was the Black Hills, Custer State Park, and the Mount Rushmore area. She truly found peace during visits there. She adored Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska and visited often.
Deborah produced scrapbooks with Cleon Houghton for her nieces and nephew. She loved knitting and times spent with her friends from her knitting group at Personal Threads Boutique in Omaha were among her most cherished.
Deborah volunteered at Creighton University Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit cuddling babies and was passionate about helping those in need.
Deborah was an exceptional source of joy to all who knew her.
