Her Life

Sun Lakes CC, Banning

May 21, 2015

Debby and Frank retired to Sun Lakes CC in Banning in October 2013. On the agenda was personalizing their new home, beginning to play golf again, and to  participate in the many social activities this active adult community had to offer.

Unfortunately, on the Ides of March, 2014, Debby was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. Through consultation with doctors at UCLA Medical Center a course of action was set in place in hopes of beating this cancer. However, both the liver resection operation and the liver transplant operation had to be scrapped due to the advanced stage of the disease. Debby decided to enjoy the rest of her life and ceased all curative actions in January 2015.

Throughout her illness several new friends from Sun Lakes CC came to her side and helped her and Frank through this tough time.

On Tuesday June 16th, she passed away.

Bakersfield

May 16, 2015

In 1991, Debby and Frank moved to Bakersfield. Although, she moved reluctantly, she truely grew to love living there.

Debby was one of the first members of Link for Life, a breast cancer support group founded by a number of women golfers who wanted to raise funds by holding golf tournaments. She tirelessly contributed her time for several years for this cause.

Debby also worked from home as a portfolio manager for a financial planner, Keith Laird.

Debby was proud of her step-son David and his wife, Kyoko and their children Noah and Kai. She loved to call them her son, daughter and grandsons.

As a member of three differant country clubs (at different times) in Bakersfield, Debby made many more friends in Bakersfield. She was a very competitive player and had a very respectable handicap. She was saught out by many to be her partner in all the club events.

Debby also enjoyed crafting. She spent numerous hours creating jewelry, designing greeting cards, creating decopodge designer plates, and other artistic creations. Not only did she enjoy doing her art, but she truely loved giving her creations to her friends and relatives.

As she worked at home, she had plenty of time for her other passion, shopping. She would stuff her Volkswagon Bug with all her new found treasures as well as her shopping buddy, Niland Roberts. Together they were recognized by all the happy merchants in town.

Long Beach

Upon graduation, Debby began working at Bank of America, and subsequently at Marlex Petroleum where she met her husband to be, Frank.

Debby and Frank were married in February of 1978 on the Princess Louise, a restaurant ship moored in San Pedro. Together they enjoyed many friends and relatives in Long Beach.

Besides her love of shopping, Debby enjoyed golfing. She and Frank were members of Old Ranch CC where they met and enjoyed several golfing friends.

Par for the course, Debby's friends were forever. She always cared and it showed.
