The Life of Mrs. Feiger
Debbie was born on June 10, 1960 in Chicago. Debbie graduated from New Trier West High School in 1978. She received a B.A. degree in Journalism and Sociology from Indiana University in 1982. After a short career in journalism, Debbie returned to school to pursue her career passion in Education. She earned her Master's Degree in Education in 1985 from National Louis University. She took a position at Washburne Jr. High School in Winnetka teaching 8th grade English and Social Studies. She taught there for seven years before leaving to devote her time to raising her children. Debbie and Jordan lived in Evanston and Deerfield before moving to Wilmette in 1989. As a dedicated and loving mother, Debbie had leadership positions in many of her children's schools and activities, including the PTA and synagogue school board. Debbie shared her love of travel with her family, visiting destinations, including Israel, Egypt, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Galapagos and Europe. Debbie loved to cook. She took every opportunity available to for friends and family, including many Shabbat dinners and Jewish holidays, annual Super Bowl parties and 4th of July celebrations. In 1999, she fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a Bat-Mitzvah. Her passion for education continued and in 2007, she took a position teaching 7th and 8th grade English at Arie Crown Hebrew Day School. A year later she entered the post-graduate program at National Louis seeking to earn a PhD in Education Leadership. She completed classes in 2011 and was in the process of writing her dissertation. In 2009, she became Director of General Studies at Arie Crown, where she implemented her passion for educational leadership, school curriculum and teacher development.
