His Life

A Loving Note from Dorothy Arend

September 7, 2011

October 9th, 2011, would have been our 68th wedding anniversary!  You were a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  You have made me a better person by knowing you.  Some day we will meet again in heaven and again I'll never stop loving you.  I miss you so much.

                                        Your wife,   Dorothy

Delbert Lee Arend, 85

August 23, 2011

Delbert Arend went home to be with his Lord on Friday, August 19th.  He was born to Clarence and Myrl Arend of Berrien Springs in 1925, and attended Baroda High School.  He married Dorothy Martin in 1943, and son Robert Lee was born in 1944.  He worked for Troost Brothers Furniture in St. Joseph for 43 years.

He is survived by his wife, son, four grandchildren (Julie, Joshua, Jeff, and Brett), brothers Vere of Baroda, and Earl of Sturgis.  He was preceded in death by brothers Lynn of Arizona, Lester of Benton Harbor, and Ray of Georgia.

Delbert enjoyed woodworking and he delighted others with his ability to create many crafts.  He ministered with Light Bearers and was very active in church functions, having served as deacon, trustee, and Sunday school teacher.  He is a former member both of Hills Corners Bible Baptist Church of Glendora and Olivet Congregational Church of Bridgman.  He and his wife moved to Rancho Bernardo, California, in 1997.

After cremation services, a memorial service was held at Robert and Evie's (his wife) home in San Diego.  His final resting place will be with his family in Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda.  Memorial contributions may be made to Light Bearers Association, Box 42, Watervliet, Michigan 49098.
