Eulogy For The Life of Mr. Delbert Williams

Delbert  Williams was born to parents Bertie Agustus Williams and
Merelda Viola Williams, May 1935. He was born in Epping Forest, Manchester and was the first of 7 siblings. He went to Comfort Hall All Age School, and left at the age of 16, passing the required exams set by the school. He was a well-behaved student. After school he went to help his dad on his farm milking and watering the cows, so on. He also assisted in his dad grocery store for a short time. His parents decided that he must learn a professional trade, sent him to Kingston to live with his two cousins Marcus and Ciscyln where he was encouraged to take employment as an apprentice mechanic. In 1955 he returned to his parents in Epping Forest. His dad said to him Ok Mr Delbert, ‘I know what is best for you, your friends are going to the UK so you must go along too and find a better life’. In 1956 brother Dell was on the ship to the UK.

When he came to the United Kingdom he did not know anyone so he travelled to Derby with a friend and they both found lodgings at the same place at Dairy House Road. He found employment as a Lines Man at British Rail where they saw him as a quiet, humble young man, good looking and punctual nicknamed him Laddie, a name he answered to unto this day.

Getting his first wage pocket Dell sent his dad some money the real English pound, his dad was very happy and proud of him. Unfortunately, his dad passed 1957 before Dell could send him more English pound.

He then changed employment to Rolls Royce where he worked for many years until he retired.  After a very well lived retirement with his family he fell ill for a short time, and succumbed to his illness on October 23, 2020.

Uncle Dell Oh my I still drive by the house and sit outside remembering all those years visiting sitting with you chatting until the early hours of the morning

I could visit anytime no time was to late or to early your doors were always open as child I would visit in the holidays and see you come and go as you went to work as a teenager I would visit and sit with you as we developed our relationship talking about any and everything

Conversation was varied and sound advice would always be given. My Uncle Dell is remembered as always been a constant wine to sit and chat with about anything you care some days we would chat until 1am in the morning or some days we would sit in the garden or he would take me on a tour of his garden so many years a lifetime of visiting so many memories

DELBERT WILLIAMS - MY DAD
A moments ago, I was just thinking about my dad. As many of you know, my dad was a quiet man. He was a quiet and private man.
After the loss of my mum, my dad's beloved Peggy, I think a small piece of my dad died. He would often say "I cannot believe she's gone".And I guess when you've been married for over fifty years, yes over fifty years, It must be very hard to carry on. But my dad was strong, so he carried on.

2018 was another blow for my dad. We lost our dear sweet Moni, my beautiful sister. But through all the pain, my dad carried on.

My dad was kind, gentle and loving. He always had time for me. As big as I am,my dad would always have a dinner waiting for me whenever I visited. I miss the sound of his car pulling up on the drive with regae music blasting out the windows,. I miss watching him peel oranges with his pen knife and most of all. I miss our conversations about anything and everything.

I will never forget my dad. I miss him so much but I choose to hold onto the wonderful memories I hold in my heart.

I truly thank God because he gave me the best dad I could ever have.

Thankyou God

FROM: TRYLIN WILLIAMS - DELBERT’S YOUNGER BROTHER

I am Trylin Williams younger brother to brother Del, as I usually called him.  We were born to the same parents and lived in Epping Forest, Manchester, Jamaica.  We all went to the same school at Comfort Hall’s All Age School. As I was younger I can remember mum telling me he used to help daddy on the farm and in his grocery store, then he went off to learn mechanic trade in Kingston. He also learn to drive truck by a Mr Jack Malcolm at Comfort Hall.  I heard he went out with his friends on Sundays for a drink and to have fun.

He came to the UK before me he treated me very well and try to help me in every way.  We had real good time I visited his home with his lovely wife Peggy and kids and they were very nice to me at all times. I must say he was a quiet brother I never saw him get cross nor swear to me or anyone. He always say to me make sure you don’t keep bad company, look for friends with good character and aim for the best and remember to respect and  have manners to people.  I left him to go back to Jamaica but always come back to visit him and have good times   eating, drinking and talking about life back home.

I was shocked to hear that he was ill in hospital; I spoke to him where he said he was not well but ‘IS SO IT GO’. and then soon after I heard he died.  Because of this pandemic I am unable to be there to see him laid to rest.  I will always miss my Big brother Dell.  I hope his soul will rest in the presence of his Creator.

Goodbye brother  (RIP)

*TRIBUTE - UNCLE DELBERT WILLIAMS*
Over the years I have found Uncle Delbert to be very warm, friendly and caring. We spoke of him visiting Jamaica so we could spend some time together soon, but sadly that will not happen again. Uncle Delbert is the eldest of the Williams children and I can recall my father, his late brother, Bishop  Rennie Lyn Williams, sharing about the happy times they spent together. He loved his brother dearly and always spoke fondly of his elder brother whom he affectionately called "Del".
Our family wishes to say thanks to God for the time He gave our beloved Uncle Delbert and pray the comfort of the Holy Spirit on his family at this time. We also use this opportunity to encourage the entire Williams family and all who are listening with these sound words: *_"God really does  love all of us and has made provision for us to enjoy our life and spend eternity with him through his Son Jesus Christ; according to the Record in 1 John 5:11-12._*We are happy to  hear that Uncle Delbert made peace with God and may his soul rest in peace.
My mother, Myrtle Williams, and my 6 siblings, along with the rest of Williams family in Jamaica offer sincere condolences to the immediate family of Uncle Delbert. We want you all to know that we love you and that you are in our thoughts and prayers especially during this time.
