On Monday, April 13, 2020, Deliaphine Marie Robinson, loving mother and friend, passed away at the age of 69 in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Deliaphine was born on April 19, 1950 in Saluda, South Carolina, to James Duke Robinson and Mattie Abney. Deliaphine moved to Newark, New Jersey as a young child, which became her permanent residence until she moved to Cherry Hill, NJ in 2016.
Delia or affectionately known as Dee or Del to many, graduated from West Side High School and Rutgers University. She embarked her life in the medical field as respiratory therapist and phlebotomist in hospitals throughout northern New Jersey. After serving over 20 years in the medical profession, Delia started her next venture in the criminal justice system as a Police Identification Records Clerk for the Newark Police Department until her retirement in 2010.
Del loved watching sports and listening to music. She was an avid reader and donned flawless makeup. Delia was an inspiration to all those who knew her and illustrated strength, independence, and commitment to others.
She is survived by her two children and son-law, Yallanda Robinson-Simpson & Barry Simpson (Marlton, NJ) & Shantel Robinson (Orange, NJ) She is also survived by her siblings: Ross Upshaw (Hackensack, NJ), Elaine Booker (Clinton, MD), Renee Robinson (Ridgefield Park, NJ), & Darlene Robinson (Newark, NJ). In addition, Delia leaves behind a wealth of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
During these unprecedented times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service to celebrate Deliaphine Marie Robinson will take place on a later date. Announcements will follow with an exact date and location.
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Delaphine will always be missed and stay in the hearts of the Chambers family. I think of her constantly when remembering my brother Michael. May peace be with her always.
