Mrs. Della Mae Smith Ferrell was born March 25, 1925 to the late John Will Smith St. George and General Newton in Troup County, GA. She was blessed to have been reared by Essie Brooks Smith. Della went to her heavenly home on May 21, 2012 at the Lanier Memorial Hospital.

She attended Tenth Street High School and was employed at the W.J.C.M. Radio Station and worked for Jim and Ann Murphy for a number of years.

Mrs. Ferrell accepted the Lord at an early age and joined the Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Reverend W.P. King. She was a member of the Mother Board, President of the Senior Choir, and a member of the missionary board.

She was active in the West Point Women’s Civic League, and Senior Citizen Center, and a former member of West Point Social Club.

Mrs. Ferrell was preceded in death by her husband Willie Blount Ferrell, a daughter, Rhudene Ferrell Allen, brother, Arthur Lee St. George and son-in-law, Freddie Allen, Sr.

She leaves to cherish a devoted grandson, Freddie Allen (Daphne), West Point, GA; great grandchildren, Chontia Allen (fiancé,  Cameron Sheffield), Kansas City, Mo.; Brandon Allen,  Kevin Floyd Jr., West Point, GA ; one sister, Cassandra Richardson (Johnnie), Columbus GA; nephew, Terrence McElhaney, Springfield VA; sister-in-law, Sallie Kate Ferrell Mitchell, Lanett, AL; a special cousin, Majorie A. Beetles, LaGrange, GA; five godchildren, Ann Wallace, Van Billingslea, , Vickie Billingslea, West Point, GA; Kathy Billingslea, Norcross, GA; Brenda McCarden, Fairburn, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends; special friends, Att Scott, Floyd  Wallace, Louise Summers, and  Jim Ernest Billingslea.
