A Mother’s Crown

Heaven lit up with a mighty presence,
as the Angels all looked down.
Today the Lord was placing the jewels
Into my mother’s crown.

He held up a golden crown,
as my darling mother looked on.
He said in His gentle voice,
‘I will now explain each one.’

‘The first gem,’ He said, ‘is a Ruby,
and it’s for endurance alone,
for all the nights you waited up
for your children to come home.’

‘For all the nights by their bedside,
you stayed till the fever went down.
For nursing every little wound,
I add this ruby to your crown.’

‘An emerald, I’ll place by the ruby,
for leading your child in the right way.
For teaching them the lessons,
That made them who they are today.’

‘For always being right there,
through all life’s important events.
I give you a sapphire stone,
for the time and love you spent.’

‘For untying the strings that held them,
when they grew up and left home.
I give you this one for courage.’
Then the Lord added a garnet stone.

‘I’ll place a stone of amethyst,’ He said.
‘For all the times you spent on your knees,
when you asked if I’d take care of your children,
and then for having faith in Me.’

‘I have a pearl for every little sacrifice
that you made without them knowing.
For all the times you went without,
to keep them happy, healthy and growing.’

‘And last of all I have a diamond,
the greatest one of all,
for sharing unconditional love
whether they were big or small.’

‘It was your love that helped them grow
Feeling safe and happy and proud
A love so strong and pure
It could shift the darkest cloud.’

After the Lord placed the last jewel in,
He said, ‘Your crown is now complete,
You’ve earned your place in Heaven
With your children at your feet.’

I didn’t know Delores but wanted to share some words of encouragement. From what I can see from your comments she truly made a great impact on all your lives. It’s never easy to see our loved ones pass away. We can take comfort in knowing that it was never God’s original purpose for us to die and His purposes never change. In the near future we can look forward to the fulfillment of Revelation 21:3, 4. That God will wipe all tears from people’s eyes and eliminate death and pain. Until that time— deep sympathy— Julia

I still cannot believe she is gone. I will always remember her unfailing loyalty to Eric and her children. Her passing has left an empty space in our lives and I know she is watching us from above , believing in us and sending us strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other. You will never be forgotton.

Delores, you were taken from this life way too soon but now you can continue on your journey with Eric... I remember you two were together out in Butler's canteen so many years ago... You were just a teenager... From Young Love to Life Long Love to Eternal Love... My thoughts and prayers are with your family, your Mom and extended family back home... Sincerely, Pam

I was fortunate enough to work with Delores, after I left the job we would still see each other frequently and that was really the highlight of my shopping trip. We caught up at every encounter and always shared a hug hello and a hug good bye. I am deeply saddened by this news, I never expected that our last hug would be really our last one. Delores you are deeply missed, you had an amazing sense of humor and a smile that would always turn a rough day around. May you rest in peace and may your loved ones always cherish the moments they were fortunate enough to spend with you.
