A brief account

August 14, 2014

Delores Young (Irvine) Rinke died the morning of August 6, 2014.  She was better known as Dodie and was born on April 18, 1934 in Seymour, Texas to Reverend Edgar and Grace Irvine.  Her sister, Jennie Cole of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away in April, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William (Bill) Rinke; a sister, Rebecca Price (Truman), Lubbock, Texas; and two brothers, Robert Irvine (Judy) of Alamosa, Colorado and Richard Irvine (Ruth) of Wheeler, Texas.  She is also survived by three children:  Mary Grace Brownsberger (Nicholas) of Doylestown, PA, James Rinke (Vicki) of Katy, Texas and Richard Rinke (Louise) of Overland Park, Kansas, as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She graduated high school in Happy, Texas which was near the Ceta Canyon Methodist Youth Camp that her father managed. Hiking in the canyon was a favorite past time as was playing the piano. She attended MacMurray College in Abilene, Texas, majoring in music.

Dodie and Bill began their married adventure at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, Washington and later lived in such places as Southern and Northern Indiana, Cincinnati and Chicago before finally locating in the Overland Park, Kansas area where they stayed for 37 years before retiring at Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri.  Throughout their marriage, Dodie supported Bill’s work as a manufacturer’s representative and his love of racing.

She loved music, the outdoors, her flowers, her extensive clown collection, all of her children, the camaraderie at the various sports and classic car events, her church and all of its members.  All things were happy in Dodie’s eyes and that was always seen in her beautiful smile and laughter.
